Meet Woo in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Woo.

Woo, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Well, I started playing instruments before singing. My mother always had me playing some sort of instrument no matter if I liked it or not lol. I played the Alto Saxophone and the piano. Getting more and more familiar with the piano, I decided I got the hang of this let me twist it up with singing at age seven. My mother put me in the Children’s Choirs Of Maryland program and I loved singing ever since. I audition for Disney channel shortly after my 9th birthday… Then in my early 20’s audition for “The Voice”. After that, it’s been a none stop process to taking action in my singing career. I’m 27 years old and have been blessed with a gift and I plan to use it to my full potential. It’s a way for me to celebrate. I love singing, I love connecting. My mother worked hard everyday to make sure I could have every opportunity to be apart of something that would shape my success down the road. I thank her for that and appreciate it. I use to hate practicing the piano. But now I can’t wait to show off my skills and creativity with it. Same with singing waking up sluggish in the morning to go to rehearsal. Now it’s like I can’t wait to sing, can’t wait to be heard.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Shaping my music career has not been smooth at all. It’s take so much time! Making sure I’m spending my money wisely. Making sure the people who advise me of things aren’t taking advantage of me. It’s definitely stressful. I’m always steadfast in my prayers so I know I can see whatever difficult situation if I face I can see it through. Trusting people in this music industry is hard. Currently, I am looking into labels, management and things like that.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I’m an R&B singer. So far, I’m most proud of the EP I have coming out in August called “Summer Jewels”. I have a single out right now called “Our Time” available on every platform.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
A sense of humor. For me, I want to work with people who are fun! Music is about having fun. Making your audience feel comfortable through your music. Have fun singing and performing. I’m a very approachable person I want my fans to know they can always come up and talk to me! I’m real ya feel me.
