Hi Sam, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was working in our family-run dry cleaning business, where many of our clients were executives and attorneys. They often mentioned how difficult it was to find a reliable, professional chauffeured service for airport transfers and business meetings. I also had clients who were chauffeurs themselves, so I started asking for their advice. With their guidance, I bought a black Lincoln Town Car and began offering transportation services to our clients.
At first, I was worried about the cost of having a commercial vehicle and insurance, but after three months, I was covering my expenses and making a profit. I invested in a website and started small online ads. By the end of my first year, I was getting more bookings than I could handle and began subcontracting other small operators.
As demand grew, I expanded by adding more cars to the fleet. I followed the business models of larger operators, focusing on high standards, clean, new cars, and professional chauffeurs. I also attended industry conventions to learn from experienced operators.
Today, my business has grown from a single car to a full fleet, and we’re known for offering exceptional service. I continue to invest in technology and maintain high-quality standards, always keeping our clients’ satisfaction as the top priority.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like any business, we’ve had our ups and downs. The economy has a big impact on the transportation industry, but the hardest struggle came during the COVID-19 pandemic. Like many other businesses, we faced a dramatic drop in demand. I was so close to permanently closing my business. But with determination, I weathered the storm, cutting costs, adjusting my strategy, and staying in touch with loyal clients. Slowly, the business began to recover.
