Today we’d like to introduce you to Sam Pareti.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Sam. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m from Chicago, and I’m a Film Editor, Video Producer and Business Owner. I’ve filmed, produced and edited brand videos and designed graphics for several multi-million dollar brands across the country (Orangetheory, Budweiser, W Hotels and more) that have generated millions of views and engagements across all social media platforms since 2014. I started my business, ParEdits, in 2017 as a Brand Agency for smaller brands, leading me to eventually leave my full-time job as a video producer and graphic designer. Soon after I started my business, I landed a job as the Lead Film Editor working on a feature-length “ScreenLife” film in Hollywood, which was my dream job at the time.
Now I focus my time on helping brands grow and succeed, transforming them with authentic, high-quality, well-respected identities to directly enhance the stories, videos and messages their audiences love!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has been tough. I thought I was prepared to be an entrepreneur. I thought I had everything it took to do it. Truth is, I didn’t.
I learned that giving up on your business should never be an option, because no matter what, if you can afford the time it takes, you WILL get better at it. You will get better at having the necessary patience, prioritization skills, and grit it takes to make money doing your own thing.
My biggest obstacle since I started my business wasn’t developing those skills though, and it wasn’t funding either. The biggest obstacle that slowed me down was a GREAT job offer. I was in the early stages of my business when a film editor job for a big time studio in Hollywood landed on my lap and I decided to take it. In retrospect, it was a great experience, but if I could’ve placed those seven months focused on growing my business, I would feel much more secure in my financial future during this pandemic.

What sets my brand agency apart and what I’m most proud of is all of our free educational content on the ParEdits YouTube Channel. You’ll learn from LIVE Trainings, tutorials, tips, tricks and challenges catered to specific niches within videography, video marketing, and branding.
At the moment, the entire business is built, marketed and operated by yours truly. I’m currently a one-man show, using family members as helpful resources, but still looking to add to the team.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory has to be all the traveling I did growing up with my family. Specifically, when the four of us took a trip to Hawaii when I was eight years old. Nowadays, I travel often, but I always bring my camera to film and make videos with. It’s such a fun experience capturing everything but it feels like a job sometimes, since my career is in film and video production. Sometimes I look back and wonder what it would be like if my career didn’t take the path towards video and then I could instead experience vacations without the need to capture it. To just enjoy the moment, rather than worrying about the right angles. But I digress, I still love making videos no matter if I’m traveling or not.
