Today we’d like to introduce you to Sailene Ossman.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As a native Californian being born in the 60’s cannabis was always around and in my life. Having survived a near fatal car accident in my late teens it was then I learned that cannabis is medicine. It aided my recovery back to a vital healthy me.
For a pure desire to have it in my life I fostered deep friendships with incredible cultivators from northern California and soon enough I always had enough for me and enough to share amongst my friends.
Settling deep roots into the Venice Beach community I launched the first Cannabis delivery service on the west side of Los Angeles. Simultaneously starting an event planning and catering service. The two business went hand in hand and soon enough I had quite the reputation in the community for throwing really incredible parties and always pairing them with lots of cannabis.
Cut to Merryjane.com giving me my own show called “smoke in the kitchen” where I hosted other Cannabis Influencers In the kitchen where we cooked tasty food and I paired it with fine strains of cannabis. This is when I was given the name “MamaSailene”.
Two years ago Deidra Bagdasarian asked me to speak on a women’s panel at the launch of her new envisioned women’s retreat called “Ganja Goddess Getaway” I came, I enjoyed myself so much I had to be a part of this larger than life women’s movement. Today I am partners with her and we have turned this women’s movement into a Private Women’s Social Club.
Today I am a Cannabis Advocate first. I am a multi business owner on this platform and I am thrilled beyond measure to be participating on the forefront of destigmatizing cannabis.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s always been an incredible experience paving the way for cannabis to come out of prohibition. Today California is an adult consumption state. I have been on the forefront for 18 years. I’ve gone to jail and been prosecuted with several felony charges for participating with this plant. However, I am more impassioned today as a result if my charges.
Today I stand with pride as my heart project, my passion project The Ganja Goddess Getaway allows me to create a safe space for women to connect back to themselves through this plant used as a spiritual and creative tool. As the “legal” landscape of cannabis continues to challenge everyone participating in the industry. We find great new creative opportunities to further our mission to bring this great movement to the masses. We are now a “Private Women’s Social Club” to comply in the legal market.
Please tell us about Ganja Goddess Getaway.
The Ganja Goddess Getaway is a Private, Members only Women’s Social Club with gatherings throughout the Western United States (expansion coming soon) that focus on using Cannabis as a creative and spiritual tool to promote sisterhood and self-love.
We get together throughout the year in beautiful and unique settings to create a safe place for women to come together and connect to themselves while being supported by a loving open expansive group of women.
We have several types of “gatherings” from our most popular three days two night “getaways” that are an all-inclusive experience. All your food, snacks, lodging and classes are included for your gathering. Plus sponsors bring as much cannabis for our Goddesses to be able to smoke, dab, or eat all weekend long. We also provide classes such as yoga, belly dancing, Puff Puff Craft, Electric Hula Hooping, SoundBaths, Drum circles and we always have educational workshop like “cannabis and extending your orgasm”” or using cannabis as medicine edible making classes and women’s panels where experts on the subjects share their stories and offer advice.
We also have Ganja Goddess Gala’s (Prom with Weed) that are Co Ed!! Next year we will launch our Ganja Goddess Couples Getaway. Plus, we are going International and bringing the Tribe to Jamaica!
I am most proud of the transformation that takes place in these women who trust their instincts to allow cannabis to shed the walls quicker and establish true deep sisterhood connections. This women’s movement is transformational! grateful beyond to provide the safe space for this to happen while having the most fun ever!,
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My father taking me out of school on my 16th birthday to take my driver’s test and get my license. Afterwards we took the entire day to just drive wherever I wanted to. Driving up the Pacific Coast Highway along the ocean feeling like a million bucks then getting pulled over by the police for speeding and getting a ticket! Day one of my new license.
