Meet Sabina Francesca

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabina Francesca.

Sabina, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Ever since I was a little girl, I knew being an actor was my one true calling. I did play starting in Kindergarten. The only place I ever truly felt at peace was on stage. I remember being so heartbroken in High school when my school would not support my theater, a lot of unfortunate things went on but it only made me stronger not only as a person but as an artist.

My dream is to write and star in my own TV show telling my story of my high school experience. My life has been one big movie I like to say. Being a first-generation American, I knew I had to work hard for everything I did. Both of my parents are immigrants from Romania, my mom in particular has always inspired me. I got accepted into my dream school my JR year and I was so happy. I knew the only way I would even consider college was if it had to do with acting. AMDA seemed like such a dream. Now being a sophomore in college, I am so grateful for having AMDA during these times. It has kept me so inspired as an artist. I learned this year that I not only want to act but write my own story. I have these amazing friends who are also actually hilarious so I’ve brainstorming a sketch comedy show to do with them! I am so grateful that I have so many ideas buzzing in my head that I have no idea where to start!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
High school was my biggest obstacle. I had a really hard tie with trying to find myself. But the thing that impacted me the most was the disgusting leadership in my Arts Department. I won’t get completely into it because I want to write my own story but it was too much for kids to go through. Our theatre was put on the back burner and the grown-ups in charge of us did whatever they wanted with no regard for us kids. There was even a point where we had no theatre teacher and I remember trying to teach my class and going to the office everyday to beg for a teacher. I learned long ago that if you want something done you gotta do it yourself.

I also learned that I cannot let other people get to me. Kids were really cruel and used your traumas against you. But I learned to use how I felt. The hurt I felt in high school will always remain but I know that my story could help so many young girls that have been taken advantage of because they have a dream. The events that occurred made me have extreme panic disorder. There was not one day where I wouldn’t have multiple panic attacks, I was felt so trapped. My junior year of high school I left almost everyday. I literally could not take it. My senior year, I was homeschooled and graduated early. Coming to college, I finally felt like a person again rather than a shell of one. This year has been hard but I have learned to work through my pain and use it rather than just shutting down.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
There are so many things I wanna do. Besides wanting to write my own projects and play off of my real-life experience, I really want to start a nonprofit. In high school and even now, I do Princess events where I got to Children’s birthday parties or events as a princess! It is only of the most rewarding things have ever done in my life. I love children and they are the future and they deserve happiness. So I wanted to start this thing where I would throw events and parties for kids whose families can’t afford a princess and a party. Go to elementary schools and hospitals in low-income neighborhoods. That is defiantly a dream I have.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Currently, I am a student and working for my BFA in Acting. I am currently shooting monologues for my reel and working on a website. I am also taking pictures to submit to modeling agencies because that is something I have always wanted to do. After graduation, I am going to audition and audition. But I am also planning on writing my own TV show and submitting it to different Networks!
