Meet Ryan Summer of Manchester, UK

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Summer

Hi Ryan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In the film industry, It started 8 years ago behind the camera. My dad is an actor and he’d written a few scripts that he wanted to produce and direct. We started off with short films and I assisted with producing, I fell in love with film making and involved myself as much as possible in as many projects as possible. Whether that be short films or commercials, with my dad or for other companies. I had thoughts about acting but never took it further than that, however, just over 2 years ago, A project that I was working on was cut short, I decided to take my chances and try acting. I felt at ease infront of the camera and it felt very natural. I started classes, joined an agency and I was off. The more time I spent on set, the more I realised that this is my calling and has now become my main focus in life. An old friend that lives in Santa Monica, LA, invited my to stay with him next year to build a career in the best place in the world for actors. An amazing opportunity that I couldn’t say no to.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Financially I struggled when leaving my old career behind and transitioning to acting. There has been ups and downs throughout the journey, when things are quiet it’s important to keep improving yourself and remember your goals, when its busy keep focused and enjoy every minute of it. I DJ as well, which is a great creative outlet and an extra income.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’ve done an episode on Coronation Street, a few episodes on Emmerdale. A national Betfred commercial. I’ve done some short films as well, one that I thoroughly enjoyed was “Mr Boz”, I short film about an elderly couple buying weed for medicinal purposes, and I was the loveable dealer. I’m truly grateful to work on all of these films/shows. They’ve been a great experience and amazing for my profile.

I also DJ, I’ve played at some amazing venues in the UK. At bars, clubs and events.

I genuinely have a passion for all things creative.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I think collaboration is key, sharing ideas and working with each other for growth is paramount. Its important to listen and take direction, in the film industry its a team effort.
