Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Kugler.
Ryan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
A5 Events is an event company that specializes in Charity Runs and Walks. We produce/manage some 20 events a year for different NON Profits. The organizations, call us to help promote their cause and create goodwill by putting on a charity run/walk! The run/walks are 5K, 10Ks and more. This trek started some 18 years ago when a friend of mine asked me to help out on a race, just asked me to volunteer. Help set up. I said OK after much hesitation. I helped and it was FUN, the cause was great and the energy of people coming together to help build something that benefits so may! So the race grew from 400 runners in Griffith Park to our best event of 3,500 people on the back lot of Universal Studios. PLUS, we morphed into 4 races! This all happened over a 15 year span where the team and I grew, and I became the executive director.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
NO. We lost help, volunteers, and our executive director at the time, who left to have a baby. Every race has its challenges, personalities and grows and dies…!! So always an up and down road. Every event we do has issues such as RAIN, permits being revoked, people not showing up, and then the positive of higher attendance, more sponsors, etc.
A5 Events – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?

We are known for putting on WELL organized events that happen on time, with very little flaps. Anytime you bring thousands of people together there will be issues. My team and I know how to handle these issues, as we know how to take action, quick and communicate well. The reason my company is a company and I do this is because we put on great events.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I have three careers/three businesses. This is just one. I am proud that I keep doing this, despite the other 2 jobs I have, and it keeps growing! Plus I have my 13 year old son helping out now!
