Meet Ryan Hanstad of Back to Action Chiropractic and Sports Performance in Irvine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Hanstad.

Ryan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I grew up playing a lot of sports and was always getting banged up. My uncle is a Chiropractor in San Diego and he would always fix me up and get me back to what I loved to do. My passion to do the same started in high school and I was determined to be a chiropractor. I have always been interested in the body and how all the systems worked together as well as healing the body naturally without drugs and surgery. I love when I can educate people about this innate ability to heal and see their lives change for the better.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My road to becoming a chiropractor has been pretty smooth. Grad school was challenging but I was always so determined I sacrificed whatever I needed to succeed. Starting my own practice was a learning experience but I had amazing mentors Dr. Tony Fedoryk and Dr. Edward Reza. I learned a lot from them when I interned with them before starting my own practice.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Back to Action Chiropractic and Sports Performance – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My office is inside of a gym so we treat a lot of athletes. I love working with people that care about their bodies and are trying to improve themselves. Our main goal is to make sure the nervous system is functioning at 100%. We do this through adjusting the spine and removing any interference. We also perform some soft tissue work with a percussion machine. Our philosophy is to make sure not only the structure is aligned but also the soft tissue as well. This ensures l everything is on the same page and working as a unit. We also have some other therapies for recovery. The game ready is a modality for decreasing inflammation by icing and compressing as the same time. We also have the Normatec system which is used to pump lactic acid and inflammation out of your muscles so you recover in approximately half the time. We want to get you back to action as fast as possible and make sure you don’t get hurt in the future. The biggest thing that sets us apart is that we address the body as a whole. We spend more time with patients to make sure that we address any imbalances. We are very proud when we hear from our athletes that they performed better after getting treated then before.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We will definitely expand in the future. As of now we are still building on what we have and getting more team members.
