Meet Ryan Gale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Gale.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Ryan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always been inspired by my family. My mother was a collector of women’s magazines. I would always tear out my favorite images and plaster them onto my bedroom wall. My grandparents had their own unique style and I’m pretty sure it has rubbed off onto me. I remember going shopping with my grandfather every other weekend. That was our way of spending quality time. Both my older sister and cousin had the flyest style. I would look to them for all of the latest trends. Fashion has always been a part of my life. It wasn’t until I got to college when I realized that I totally could make a career out of it. I moved to NYC shortly after graduating. From there I interned and assisted for some of the greatest stylist such as Lisa Smith Craig, Shibon Kennedy, Corey Stokes, Diane Garcia, Mindy Le Brock and Mecca James Williams. After freelancing for over three years I transitioned into a full-time role at Bustle Digital Media Group. I learned so much as an editor while there.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Oh no, it has not been a smooth road. Nothing in life comes easy. But if you believe in yourself and continue to work hard at mastering your talent/skill, it will definitely pay off at the end.

Please tell us about your work.
I’m a stylist and editor. I love getting others dressed and experimenting with fashion. I enjoy attending fashion shows and researching the latest trends and designers. My ultimate goal is to become a stylist for a developing artist. Create an image and build-out elevated looks to match their personal style. I really would love to create more opportunities for black designers/artist to thrive.

I’m most proud at my work ethic and my ambition to soar no matter what.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I really wouldn’t change a thing. I’m proud of all of my hardships, they shaped me into the woman I am today. I’ve learned from every mistake. But I am working on my attitude and confidence.
