Meet Ruth Caal of Jackalope Pottery & Plants in North Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruth Caal.

Jackalope Pottery & Plants began as a pet-friendly home furniture store. Down the line we let go of a few things and headed towards the outdoors! Now we are the #1 pot spot in The Valley. In recent years we have been hosting community events including a Succulent Fair, Art Fair, and Holiday Gift Show. Being at the center of the NOHO Arts District, we aim to embrace all forms of creation and share it with our customers.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
So far, our journey has been a smooth ride.

Please tell us about Jackalope Pottery & Plants.
We specialize in pottery, fountains, and drought tolerant plants. With 50 fountains running simultaneously, visitors enjoy our serene environment away from the city. Our pottery selection can be overwhelming for most, but the Jackalope team is always happy to help achieve any garden goal. After all we have planters for all occasions.

Customer service is our priority and we take pride in the relationships that we build with our clientele. Decorating is no easy task so we do all that we can to soften the blow, both mentally and financially.

Every month we have 2 classes, a Miniature Fairy Garden Workshop and a Garden Seminar about varied topics, which can be found on our website. Aside from the garden life, we try to stay active in our community by creating free events which are made up of independent vendors who live in Southern California.

Our nursery is made up of plants that will thrive in our desert like weather. As our climate changes, we change with it. For example, we carry a unique assortment of succulents, drought tolerant plants, and soon expanding into an edible garden! And did we mention that we’re pet-friendly?

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Do not sugar coat anything. When people come to us with their design, of course our instinct is to tell them that we can make it all happen but the reality is that not everything is available (we’re looking at you Pinterest). If we do search for it and locate it, it ends up being extremely expensive or in another country.
