Today we’d like to introduce you to Runjhun Misra.
Runjhun, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a physician and medical news correspondent. With the evolution of medicine and science, the art of medicine is slowly disappearing.
I am a very creative person, always have gravitated towards art, music, literature, dance, cooking – basically any form of self-expression.
I have been cooking since I was a little child, helping my great grandmother in the open aired kitchen in our ancestral home in India. That continued when we moved to America and I found myself cooking often for my family and friends,
My close friends would always urge me to write down my recipes, photograph my presentation. But with the stresses of medical school, residency and life, I never took them up on their suggestion. During 2020, we were stuck at home, and I needed an outlet to combat the stress from the pandemic and from work.
So the wicked vegetarian was born. She renewed my spirit, showed me a way to share myself with others through food, photos and words.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not always been smooth – but anything worth having always comes with hard work and determination.
It’s been a real circus juggle trying to manage two jobs, medical new correspondence, a toddler, home and this new venture.
I can’t sacrifice on anything really except for sleep – so I usually get my blogging done when the house is quiet and everyone is asleep into the wee hours of the morning.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
The Wicked Vegetarian is proof that wholesome, beautiful vegetarian food can be made within minutes by anyone.
I am so proud of my photography. It is 100 percent self-taught, and it’s shot on a cellphone! It’s hard to believe, but now that I’m getting international recognition from companies, it is starting to feel real.
My food, my photography and my outlook as a physician set me apart from others.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I believe we should all follow our dreams, no matter how big or small they may be. The only real estate we need is an abundant mind.
