Ruby , thank you so much for joining us today. We’d love for you to bring our readers up to speed – can you introduce yourself and share your story?
Three years after the release of her debut eponymous solo EP, Ruby Layne is back with a brand new sound. The now six-piece rock outfit, Ruby Layne & The Wicked Divine, combines vintage classic rock tones with a modernized, pop-esque approach to songwriting. Inspired by the protest songs of eras past, Layne has positioned herself as the mouthpiece of the harbinger of a new era of political rock in a time that so desperately needs it.
Please talk to us about your creative work and career. What should we know?
‘Radical Love’, the debut single from Ruby Layne & The Wicked Divine, is a staunch refusal to bend the knee to the powers that be in the name of a radical re-thinking in what it means to love — moving beyond mere gestures to unite as a community and provide the mutual aid we need to survive. Layne soars above a relentless, churning, frenetically paced sonic onslaught that leaves no room for uncertainty, Radical Love is the rallying cry for everyone who is tired of the daily struggles of a dying society and wishes to rebuild a better, kinder world. Radical Love is out now on all streaming platforms.
Austin Isshac has been a great friend to us and I know you’ve got a great relationship as well. Maybe you can tell our audience a bit about Austin and your experience with them.
Austin was the engineer and mixer on our new single Radical Love. He is a wonderful person to work with, very hands-on and dedicated to crafting the perfect song for you. We had a great time working with Austin on Radical Love from Day One in the studio all the way through the final steps of mixing. We are very much looking forward to recording the rest of our upcoming album at Jung Records.
