Today we’d like to introduce you to Rona Graf.
Rona, please share your story with us.
While working in the model home industry, I gained vast knowledge in custom furnishings, built-ins, and overall concept design. This experience later translated into the inception of Grace Blu Designs, Inc., which I founded in 2007. My northeastern roots are evident in my attraction to nature, organic materials, colors and forms. My signature style blends timeless tradition into striking contemporary designs viewable across my many diverse projects. Grace Blu has appeared in such highly regarded publications as Riviera Interiors, Orange Coast Magazine, California Home, TRENDS, and Travel & Leisure. Grace Blu’s work has also been featured on the Today Show on NBC. Grace Blu has been selected to participate in several special projects, such as the Philharmonic House of Design, Designer Runway, New Alternatives Teen Home and the Casa del Camino Casa Surf Project in Laguna Beach. I have also served on several esteemed design boards, including the ASID Orange County and NKBA Southern California, in addition to occasional speaking engagements at Dwell on Design, as well as, local design schools like IDI and OCC.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not always. We have had dream clients and have had dream jobs but then there are occasional clients that we can’t get them to make a decision and that does add time to the timeline. So it can increase the length of the project. The design process is not always easy.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are known for great unique design. We are most proud of the end result for our clients. When the design comes together and our clients can see the direction we are going in, they are usually on board to do whatever it takes to complete this. It’s exciting to see the end results and to see our clients happy.
What were you like growing up?
I’ve always been interested in design even as a child. Growing up, I was a fixture in my grandmother’s furniture showroom. My first project consisted of my very own tree house for which I pulled carpet and fabric samples from my grandmother’s design library.
