Today we’d like to introduce you to Ron Patterson.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Ron. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
After finishing my college studies at UC Berkeley in 2001 in Cognitive Science and Computational Modeling, I immediately decided to jumped back into my childhood passion in the music industry and traveled the world performing and singing R&B as Ron Patterson the artist. I released 2 albums on iTunes and toured overseas in Japan and Paris. In between performing and recording music, I was able to hold tech jobs in tech support and website development to financially support myself and my dreams. As years past and the music industry began to decline, my tech background held firm and I continued in tech working for different companies. The last company I worked for was a company at the time called “Make It Work” where our headquarters was located in Santa Barbara, CA and we serviced customers from Santa Barbara to San Diego. I mainly worked in Los Angeles and sometimes Santa Barbara and Montecito helping home and business users with their computers, networks, printers, mobile devices, software, security, surveillance, and more. I quickly moved up and began training new technicians for the company and maintained a large group of customers that would request me personally for help.
After 5+ years working for Make It Work, I was not allowed much growth beyond what I had already achieved and I decided to leave the company and start my own business providing similar but in my opinion better services to customers focusing on the Los Angeles area in particular. I hit the ground running and started what is known today as Tech Help LA. I acquired the website domain techhelpla.com and built the website in 2011. I built and optimize the website on the WordPress platform and the results were amazing. I also partnered with Google as a Google Apps (now G Suite) authorized partner and began cultivating a great relationship with Google online and surely got their support and attention fast. My customer base started growing swiftly and the demand for tech support and help increased almost by the day. My biggest challenge in growing the business was making sure I brought on techs that would adhere to the Tech Help LA culture of not being “geeks” but rather being personable and knowledgeable as well as providing simple, easy, and reliable tech solutions for our clients. There is always a hard way to do things but I never liked considering the hard way when technology ultimately is designed to simplify. Not all techs take this approach when providing help and can confuse people beyond belief intimidating them and increasing their fears related to technology.
In conclusion, I designed Tech Help LA to be a go to resource for technology help and support focusing on stress free and reliable operations. Partnering with businesses like Google, Carbonite, and others has allowed Tech Help LA to build a unique reputation for helping home and business users operate using technology with ease.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I thank God that I have not had much of a struggle in building Tech Help LA besides supplying the demand itself. Keeping track is always interesting with a growing business but that is actually a good problem to have and validates all efforts. I must credit Google since using the G Suite product since 2011 has made running Tech Help LA almost a breeze not only internally but also for our clients.

Success can be defined in many different ways from many different perspectives. I always say for Tech Help LA that “help” is our middle name. I define success as being able to solve problems and that is what we do every day.
