Today we’d like to introduce you to Rocsii Frank.
Rocsii, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Socialite, influencer, Recruiter, Founder and CEO of The Source LA. The Source LA is a Communal resource Organization where jobs and resources for the community are posted and updated daily. It’s also a place where small business owners can promote their business. I take pride in sharing over 6k+ have been placed with employment.
When people ask me why I do what I do, I always tell them Motherhood is the #1 reason why I am where I am today. I didn’t plan on being a single mom but it lead me here, and I’m glad it did. Life got the best of me in 2012 up until recently. At 34, today I can say I needed those experiences & growing pains. I’m thankful for everything I learned along the way and for this reason I share as much as I can through my platform to help prevent the things I went through for others.
In 2012, I lost my job which led to more problems. Moving to Los Angeles didn’t make it any better. I felt so lost and alone. I finally got my big break working a security gig in West La for Allied Universal and was able to find a room for rent on Craig’s list. I was making progress and doing everything in my power to stay humble. I had no idea this security gig would change my life.
In 2014, I met my mentor Adam Michaels former Territory VP at Aflac. He walked up to the security desk handed me his card and offered me a job that would not only change my career path but make me a better mother, friend, daughter, sister but most importantly a better leader. Adam introduced me to someone who would become my new boss and turn in to family.
Everyone always asks the million-dollar question. Why did you start the Source LA? My mentor Chris Hager is why. I started my journey under Market Director Chris Hager leadership in 2014 as his receptionist and quickly promoted to his regional recruiter. Adam and Chris both enhanced my way of thinking, boosted my confidence, and showed me the game on another level. They saw the drive, growth, and the passion in me.
Most importantly they both gave me a chance when no one else wanted to. When people that I recruited came in for their interview at Aflac, Chris saw how much I wanted to help them, and that’s exactly what he let me do. He let me help them get on their feet with my resources and gave them jobs through Aflac when they were ready to make some real money.
At that point, the game changed for me. I had someone who understood what I wanted to do in the community, supported the change, and mentored me the whole way through. The help at work turned in to the help at home, and now we have The Source LA. I’m blessed to have a partner who supports me and contributes to The Source LA with his expertise and outreach. I am forever grateful for the leadership, encouragement, and support.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not always been smooth. I’ve had plenty people use me behind the strong relationships and connections I’ve built along the way, but I’ve pushed through.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
At The Source LA we specialize in helping people get their life back on track. We supply our platform with jobs, childcare, housing leads, tips and so much more to help them get on their feet. For people that are a little more established we connect them with people that can help advance them in their current career. We are involved in a lot of community outreach and love to help the less fortunate. We also support small businesses and do business promo to help get the word out about their business. I am so proud to have placed over 6k people with jobs in the Los Angeles Community. What sets me apart is my transparency and will always let people know life hasn’t always been perfect, and if they allow me I can show them the way.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I think Los Angeles is the perfect place to start a business like mine. No matter where you go you can only help people that want to help themselves, and that is typically what I focus on. I will always recommend strong leadership.
