Meet Robin Randolph of Robin Randolph Photography in San Fernando Valley and West LA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Randolph.

Robin, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from UCLA in 2011. After finishing college, I moved to the East Coast and began working at ESPN in Bristol, Connecticut. I worked in sports production for 2 years and truly had a dream job. It was like grad school for sports. After my time at ESPN, I moved to New York and worked as an Account Sales Representative at Turner Broadcasting. Much of my photography was inspired by my years on the East Coast. I was fascinated by seasons and Mother Nature, always taking photos wherever I went. I invested in photography gear, designed a logo, and started to brand my photography business. It was just a passion at this point and something I did on the side for fun.

In May 2014, I decided to move back to the City of Angels. I missed the SoCal sun, my family, and knew that more opportunities were back home in Los Angeles. I worked in traditional Hollywood entertainment for about 2 years, still doing photography on the side, working gigs when I wasn’t at my job 50+ hours a week. I took photography classes to learn more about the craft I loved. In October 2016, I took a Samy’s Camera course and met a photographer who I immediately looked up to and wanted to learn from. I went up to her after that lecture, introduced myself, and told her how awesome and inspiring she is. What was her response? She told me to quit my job and come work for her.

So, in January of 2017, I bit the bullet and left my 50+ hour a week desk job at a talent management company to pursue photography full time. Talk about the best decision I ever made! Being able to do what you love and get paid for it is a true blessing.

In the last year, my business has really expanded. I’ve gained a lot of new, interesting clients, and have been able to shoot a lot of incredible events and document the coolest people.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has been pretty smooth because I have great mentors. I’m constantly picking their brains and striving to learn as much as I can.

In the beginning, I feel like most people struggle to get regular clients / income. What I’ve learned is that you absolutely have to hustle and love what you do. You have to put yourself out there and really brand yourself. Social media has helped immensely with this. I’ve gotten plenty of gigs and made a number of contacts by being active on Instagram and Facebook which has been amazing!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Robin Randolph Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize in portraits, events, and fine art and have a strong passion for new places and exciting adventures. My wanderlust has inspired my photography throughout the world, from Israel to Nepal to the Grand Canyon and several places in between. I love capturing moments and memories that people can keep forever. Whether its headshots, family portraits, special events, or styled marketing shoots, my unique view through my lens will make your photos truly unforgettable.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future consist of expanding and getting consistent / regular clients. I want my name to ring a bell when people hear it and for people to think of my name when they need a photographer!
