Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Ehrig.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
This is a family owned business that brought me aboard in July 2009. I come from a background of retail. I managed several retail stores such as Michaels, Pier One Imports, Jo Ann’s craft and fabric, BEST Products, Target and Linens n Things. My background was a great mix of sales and management. Being a small business, I was hired to sell product and aid in bringing additional vendors into the product mix.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
One of our sayings around the office is “if it was easy, everyone would be doing it.”
Nothing worthwhile is easy and I would say that even though we have challenges, we, the owners and workers, make sure that we head into any obstacle with a smile and a can do attitude.
Selling as is product, can be tricky and labor intense.
Missing parts, not working properly items and items dented in wrong areas all lend themselves to challenges.
Luckily when people shop here, they are aware of what they are getting or should I say why they are saving so much money. 🙂
Another saying around here is “there are no problems, only solutions.”
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Appliance Outlet – what should we know?
We are what is known as an As Is dealer.
We buy our inventory from the manufacture or distributer at a discount and pass the savings on to the consumer.
Our product could be open box, scratch and dent, refurbished, showroom models, or simply discontinued.
We also specialize in the higher end lines. So more of the Luxury names.
I think that the thing we do the best is, we put nice high end product into people’s houses that thought they couldn’t afford them. We make them affordable. And usually at the same price that they would have spent on medium quality appliances.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
The family that owns the company are the ones that deserve all the credit.
Marc Weiler is the outside of the box thinker that came up with the idea and guts to try something like this.
Lee Weiler is the guy that keeps the creative side and the business side being so cohesive. A Brilliant business man.
Larry Weiler, their dad, who still comes to work every day, has kept this place grounded and is the most incredible business man I have ever met.
Debi Larimore is also a staple here. She has been the office person for over 20 years.
