Rita, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Rita has been in the optical business since the day she was born. She gained knowledge of the practice by working at her parent’s optical shop on the weekends at a very young age, and took on a full time position as an optician once she graduated from high school. Today, 19 years after graduating from high school, Rita continues her career as a licensed ABO certified optician.
Last year, an opportunity came through and her dream of owning her own optical shop became a reality.
Rita’s customer service is superb and her willingness to find you the perfect pair of eyewear is unmatched! With her vast knowledge of the business and very fashionable taste in today’s eyewear trends and lens options, she will find you exactly what you need.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not smooth at all, but determination and hard work overcame all challenges. The 7 months it took from just talking about owning her own shop to actually owning one was very hectic.
Funding the purchase of the store was the most challenging task, but all is possible when one is determined to meet a goal.
Since the store has been there over 30 years, she was nervous of how the existing customers would react to the change of ownership, especially going from an old aged male to a young aged woman, but so far with her vast knowledge of the business and her skills as an optician she has won the customers trust already.

Verdugo Optical is a full-service optical boutique in Glendale, CA.
We offer a vast selection of high-fashion frames, the latest in lenses, and a wide variety of sunglasses from fashion to performance. We also provide excellent frame adjustments, fittings and repairs.
We provide repairs, adjustments, tinting (solid, gradient and double gradient)
Onsite lab services include; three piece mountings, (lens shapes can be customized), customize sunglasses (any ophthalmic frame can be used).
All our sunglasses are UV A and B filtered and can be polarized.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Hard work and determination.

Rita is such a wonderful person, and she really does know everything about glasses. She’s the only person I go to. I recommend you check her store out next time you need glasses. You will not be disappointed!

Saw the store on Yelp, and then this article came up when searching the store on google. The person commenting above is absolutely correct! Rita is awesome! She helped me pick out 2 frames I desperately needed. She takes her time and provides customer service like no other. This is the only place I will go to for my glasses from now on. Thanks Rita!
