Today we’d like to introduce you to Rita Boccuzzi.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Rita. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started the quest for financial empowerment three decades ago, as a child, I always had a curiosity about what was the difference between those who seem to be financially wealthy than those who were not. I am a first-generation American born to a family of Italian immigrants. Growing up, I was taught to save, save, save for my parents which I did. I had two brothers and one of my first life lessons at age 21 was when my older brother tragically passed away at the age of 27. He was my role model a hard worker, entrepreneur and real estate investor. I was inspired by him to create a life where I could live a legacy in honor of my brother to inspire, love and be a positive influence.
Shortly after, I married the love of my life whom I met in Italy. I then purchased my first real estate property when I was in my twenties, my curiosity grew so I started to read more about financial success. I had lots of ideas but no clear direction as I worked in the corporate world to provide for my family but felt as I was living with no purpose.
As I was raising my children, my desire to create a legacy for my sons grew. I had a strong belief that in order to empower my kids and future generations to achieve financial independence, I wanted to model the way to create positive financial shifts. My desire to change the world, one person, one family at a time empowering them to control their own economy before it controls them. At my local library, I listened to audio courses by world-renowned financial and business authorities and spent tens of thousands of dollars on Real Estate Investing strategies and Wealth Building courses, surrounding myself with people that were financially successful and knew how to teach about building financial wealth.
Then my world fell apart at the seams, I was diagnosed with cancer. I learned hard lessons about the financial impact that illness burdens a family with. I didn’t want other people to experience a life-changing event without being prepared. After having experienced plummeting into deep debt, I bounced back with a new direction for my mission and life purpose. I became passionately committed to guiding women to achieve financial peace of mind that includes transforming money conversations and release money confusion, expand their financial knowledge, and build confidence regarding money and wealth so I started my company Flourish in 2012.
Today, as a financial literacy expert, author, and motivational speaker, I provide the knowledge to stop the worry about outliving your money, not having enough for retirement and options available to create lasting financial success.
Over the past three years, I partnered with Five Rings Financial and have educated thousands of women through my heartfelt mission to reform how they think, plan, interact and live out their investments and financial lives. I host Wine, Women & Wealth events and 6 Key Money Principles Educational Workshops in the Los Angeles areas. I believe now it’s the time to revolutionize how we define our wealth.
Positive financial shifts happen when you define wealth as having great health, a positive mindset, fabulous relationships, and a sustainable desired lifestyle that is resilient and in control of your personal finances. I love what I do empowering people to create their positive financial future
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road but a road well worth traveling. Some of the challenges I experienced really boiled down to two areas my self-confidence & my power team, or the lack thereof.
One thing I realized accountability is key to building any business. 1st is accountability to myself. I built my confidence through getting educated in a not so traditional way. I chose the path of learning from those that had become successful and that came at a hefty price. I leveraged my credit which I would not advise today because but there comes a point when you have to take action and implement what you learn otherwise it becomes “shelf-help” vs. self-help.
I spent tens of thousands of dollars getting educated and would overwhelm myself with too many courses and too much information. A couple of things would happen I would have to stop and take the time to put all the information together and make sure not to be paralyzed by the thoughts of I needed to learn more. I would have to control the urge to chase the next “shiny object” or next course. Realizing when was enough was enough was a big and costly challenge for me. Today, I am not unhappy about this because this experience has helped me to learn to ask my self the right questions and have a clear understanding of the criteria I want before taking the next step and in my case, I educate and support others to have a clear direction without all the cost.
The 2nd key is surrounding myself with the right team and that power team includes my accountability partner, business partners, mentors and coaches. Finding the right team can be like kissing a bunch of bees it can sting you financially, emotionally and professionally. In my experience, I had several partnerships that in the end taught me what I didn’t want creating clear criteria for what I did want. I would attend events such as networking events to find the people I surround myself with today. I learned to intentionally meet and surround myself with people I aspired to be.
Building myself confidence and my power team is an ongoing process as I grow & my business evolves.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I love our city. I have grown up in Burbank all my life. I believe we are the “Mayberry” of towns in the Los Angeles County areas. What that means to me is that it is a truly supportive community building each other up for success. Being a part of my community and the chamber is a great way to get to know amazing individuals who are heart-centered and will help guide you to be successful in your business.
