Today we’d like to introduce you to Ricky Bell.
Hi Ricky, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
First my names Ricky Bell Jr. and I appreciate you for having me. I am an actor representing the southeast region of the industry. The funny thing is that when I first dove into acting it wasn’t necessarily my idea in the beginning, I had people in my ear who kind of put the idea in my head. At first I thought it sounded crazy until I actually gave it a shot and fell in love with it. I’ve been in a multitude of projects ranging from feature films to stage plays. I’ve always felt great about being a part of the next generation of actors. I consider myself versatile but my favorite kind of roles to get cast in are characters that stand somewhere on the side of goodness. My journey as an actor eventually led me also to directing and screenwriting as well in which I have created several of my own productions throughout the years.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Oh no it’s definitely not been a smooth road. That right there is understatement of the decade. Rejection is something that’s naturally going to happen, that’s for any actor. However, it’s most disappointing when you do receive the opportunity you’re looking for but then things happen behind the scenes that causes the projects to fall through. I have dealt with this time and time again and it’s frustrating to say the least. However, I always keep my head up, smile, and just know that tomorrow is coming and there will be something else.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Something I’m incredibly proud of is a movie that I was cast in for the lead role titled “The Winter Prophecy”. It is a suspense-drama film where I’m portraying Moshe Winters, an anti-hero who seeks out the wicked and exacts relentless vengeance upon them. This was indeed one of my most grittiest roles I’ve ever done and I had so much fun bringing him to life on-screen. It is currently out now on Amazon Prime. I also have a superhero movie coming this year titled “Jarmon Unlimited”, stay tuned as I fight to save the world! I do everything in my power to bring my passion to the screen. A little small detail about me is that I love to tell a good joke from time to time, come on set with me one day and you’ll see.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I like the best about my city is how much it’s been growing and how the talent has been gradually rising as the time has gone on. What I like least about my city is how much it’s overlooked by the industry, it’s almost like we’re simply just tolerated rather than fully appreciated.
