Meet Rick Ross of Delicious Pizza in Hollywood & Mid-city

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rick Ross.

Delicious Pizza is a hip-hop pizza shop founded in 2015 by father-son duo Fred and Travis Sutherland and Delicious Vinyl founder Mike Ross and brother Rick Ross. Located in L.A.’s West Adams neighborhood and on the iconic Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood, the restaurant’s high-quality pies and golden-era hip-hop memorabilia has made it a destination for local residents and music fans alike. Tourists in Hollywood from all over the world flock to Delicious for that unique experience of music and food.

Delicious Pizza uses an all-organic grain mix fermented with a home-grown natural yeast starter for its dough and offers unconventional toppings (like soppressata, ricotta and fontina cheeses, and house-made sausage) for its hip-hop-themed pies (think: Cheeba Cheeba and The Slaughtahouse). Delicious also offers pizza by the slice. Memorabilia from the golden era of hip-hop lines the walls and the speakers are always blasting something cool from the old school. Also, check out the events page to see what’s going on and engage with the community.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Opening restaurants is very challenging. The key was developing the sour dough based pizza. Travis Sutherland came up with all the recipes from scratch and hit a grand slam on the dough. This is what makes Delicious Pizza so unique.

Delicious Pizza – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We serve high-quality sour dough based pizza, wings, salads, pastas & breakfast pizzas. Breakfast is avail all day at the Hollywood cafe.

We carry our own private label cold brew coffee, Funky Cold Sangria and Delicious desserts including Nutella cheesecake, olive oil cake, and vegan cookies.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Our goal is to bring Delicious food, music, and community together. We host an annual West Adams Block Party on Labor Day weekend each year that brings all this together.

Artists such as Talib Kweli, Doug E. Fresh, KRS-One perform for this free community block party, and it’s always one of the most inspiring and fun days of the year. This is one of the goals of our Pizza shops, along with serving the best pizza in LA!!!

Pricing:

  • $ 12 Small Pepperoni Pizza
  • $ 13-15 Breakfast Pizzas
  • $3.75 Nutella Cheesecake
  • $5.75 Ricotta Pancakes

I have been associated with Rick & Mike Ross since the start. When Tone’ was Anthony! Lol. The cadre of talent is off the charts. The family of resident DJ’s of which I am one is pretty phenomenal. A article featuring DV’s DJ’s has been talked about many times but never done. Now is the time… I am currently music director at Sony and my recent project is working with Mr. Norman Lear on Netflix’s “ONE DAY AT A TIME”. We just wrapped our 3rd season. With such competition amongst DJ’s it’s rare to have a group of talent that get along so well. Rare indeed. Presently I am Dj’ing DV’s “WAKE & BAKE SHOW” which airs 10am-12pm Mon-Fri on DASH RADIO.
