Meet Rick Beck of Keller Williams Realty Beverly Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rick Beck.

Rick, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started my career as a real estate agent in the Hollywood Hills/Sunset Strip area with Fred Sands Realtors in 1986 right out of college. With my education being in business and marketing I obtained my agents license and starting working immediately. By 1988 I was one of the top 10 producers in the office and in the top 3% to 5% in the entire company. I stayed with Fred Sands for approximately 10 years and then moved to Jon Douglas Company also on the Sunset Strip. I have always maintained a high volume of business throughout my career and have consistently been in the top 5 agents in my office in total production. Eventually in the early 2000’s Jon Douglas merged with Prudential and then sold to Coldwell Banker. I stayed at Coldwell Banker and became the offices number 1 Top Producer for a number of years. In June of 2012 after 17 years at Coldwell Banker (Jon Douglas Company) I moved to Keller Williams Realty-Beverly Hills where I remain today.

A number of years ago I obtained my broker’s license and I also obtained my Arizona broker’s license as well. I feel very fortunate to have won numerous awards throughout my career for listing and sales production and I have set record breaking prices in too many neighborhoods to name them all. My client list includes CEO’s, professional athletes, high profile actors & actresses, Hollywood Producers, major developers and average home buyers and sellers from every walk of life.

I have a wonderful wife and we have raised 3 incredibly successful children. I feel very blessed!

Has it been a smooth road?
Although I have won numerous awards and had a storied career I have been through 2 major recessions and probably 5 to 6 or more mini recessions/flat spots along the way. I have been fortunate there as well. They say “when the going gets tough, the tough get going”. One of my greatest skills in real estate has been to change my business model and reinvent myself every 4 to 6 years throughout my career. Why every 4 to 6 years? Because it seems like that time frame is usually when the market changes whether from economic conditions, technology changes/advances or a life change for me personally that effects my business. Whatever business you’re in to have staying power you have to have foresight and change/reinvent yourself to stay ahead of market trends and to keep your business trending forward and up.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am a 30+ year real estate agent/broker selling record breaking estates, single family residences and/or condos, land to develop, spec houses and New Home Developments throughout the Westside of Los Angeles and The Valley.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I moved to Los Angeles in January 1983 after a 21″ blizzard from a small town in Minnesota. I view Los Angeles as the “Land of Opportunity” that our forefathers planned it to be. This city has everything from perfect weather year-round to surfing, skiing, mountains, desert and everything in between.

As a foodie, Los Angeles has world class restaurants and chefs. We are the worlds entertainment center. It’s a mecca made up of people from different cultures from all over the world. It’s a great place to live!
