Meet Richard Schulman of The Richard Schulman Team

Today we’d like to introduce you to Richard Schulman.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started in real estate 14 years ago, just looking to learn about the industry, but without any foresight about what I could do in real estate. There were no teams then, and the idea of running a real estate sales business was on no one’s radar. Over the years, I’ve been purposefully building a company that sells homes and investments in LA at the highest possible level. Through training, planning and integrity, we’ve grown to a 20 person team that will sell 160 homes this year, valued at about $125M in value. Not only are we adding value to our clients, but creating great jobs for our team members.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing’s a smooth road. If it is, you’re probably doing something incorrect. The market has changed dramatically over my time in the business, from the booming early 2000s, to the bottom of the market in 2009. The key for us is to project market movements and always look to protect our client’s interests.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Richard Schulman Team – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are a large real estate sales team that focuses on maximizing our client’s real estate returns. The differentiator between us and other sales teams is that we have specialized agents focusing on a large geographic range and property type. We can help the same client buy a sell a home in the Valley, buy a home in West LA and invest in an apartment building in Inglewood. And we do that quite often. In addition to focusing on our client’s results, we are focused on developing our agents as property investors as well, making them better at their jobs and achieving their financial dreams.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
More of the same. My number one focus is on my client’s satisfaction. As long as we can grow with integrity and maintain our reputation and quality of service we will grow as a sales team. Ultimately, my goal is to really help my clients own their home and own rental properties. Whatever it takes, we will do that.
