Meet Richard Falzone of Off Vine Restaurant in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Richard Falzone.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started at Off Vine in 1997 as a server. I worked my way up to the day manager and then the general manager. In 2007 I became one of the owners. 8 months later we had a fire and were closed for two years. I spent that time re-building the restaurant. We re-opened in 2010 and have been going strong since

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Well, the fire we had certainly changed things. Dealing with the city and the insurance company’s made things very difficult. It took about 5 years for us to really get back on our feet.

Off Vine Restaurant – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Off Vine Restaurant has been in Hollywood since 1989. We are located in the heart of Hollywood at the Sunset & Vine intersection. We are known for our California/American cuisine with an homage to the “comfort foods”. Open for breakfast/lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. I am proud that we worked our way back after a very difficult time and we are going strong. We are located in a 1908 craftsman bungalow which definitely sets us apart from other restaurants in Los Angeles

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Hard, honest work. Having happy employees and customers.

I have visited this incredible restaurant a number of times. From seating to dessert, diners will not be disappointed. It has provided special pretheatre and celebratory meals. The service is always warm and accommodating and the sumptuous entrees even better. The chocolate soufflé is well worth the wait if you do not have to make an 8 o’clock curtain. Kudos to Off Vines management and staff. I be back!
