So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After working in several distinct jobs, I started working for Garden of Eva, Inc., a nursery and landscaping company, as a driver and later as a sales representative and manager. When my employer decided it was time to terminate the nursery business side of the company, I didn’t see it as a threat to my position but instead as an opportunity. With over 12 years in the wholesale nursery business, my passion and love for nature lead me to acquire the nursery and start Ricardo’s Nursery.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not been smooth, specially being a first time business owner with limited resources. I faced many economical hardships and have gone through multiple learning experiences in the form we conduct business that although at the time were struggles have helped shaped the company for the best.

Ricardo’s Nursery is a wholesale nursery that extends its services to individuals, landscapers, and other wholesale and retail nurseries in the southern California area. We provide great quality plants and reliable service at a competitive and affordable price. We continually strive to give our valued customers the service they deserve and have come to expect. We are dedicated to growing plants and shrubs of the highest level of quality. With 1 location in Long Beach, CA of approximately 9 acres, we do our best to grow and carry a wide selection of water-wise plants.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I think, being persistent and having the determination to make this company succeed has been the most important characteristic to get us where we are today.
