Meet Rhiana, Kira, Jade and Paige Diaz of Diaz Studio of Dance in Culver City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rhiana, Kira, Jade and Paige Diaz.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We are The Diaz Sisters (Rhiana, Kira, Jade, Paige.) Born and raised in Chicago, now living in Los Angeles. Pretty much started dance lessons as soon as we learned to walk and studied with some of the best dance professionals in the business. We all went on to different careers (advertising, production, and fitness) but each of us still always kept dance a part of our lives. About a year ago, we started scouting locations for our very own dance studio. (We opened late April 2018.) We own and operate the studio entirely on our own. You’ll always have one of us as your instructor when you take our classes whether you’re a child, teen or adult.

Has it been a smooth road?
Most people probably believe that owning your own business is easy. No boss to answer to, set your own hours. This is completely not true. It’s hard work. Really hard work. The four of us run every aspect of the business on our own. This is everything from the design of the studio, choreography, public relations, answering emails, cleaning the studio and a million other tasks that come up every day. It’s not easy but it’s extremely rewarding. We love it and we love working together as a team.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Diaz Studio of Dance story. Tell us more about the business.
We are a dance studio for kids, teens and adults. We offer tap, ballet, hip-hop, contemporary and jazz for kids/teens ages 3-18. For adults we offer music video pop, tap, ballet, hip-hop, contemporary in addition to some dance-inspired strength and conditioning classes. Our motto is to “Build Confidence Through Dance” and that motto is displayed on the wall when you walk into our studio. We do not have “front row divas,” everyone gets a chance in the spotlight and we make everyone feel special. Parents thank us for our kindness and patience with their children. Our adult students have said that we are their “home away from home.” They come in on their off days just to talk to us, to escape a bad day or just to be part of whatever is happening that day at the studio. We think we have created a special place…it’s inviting, clean, modern and airy. Its state of the art down to our sprung/floating dance floor to absorb shock and protect our dancer’s bodies to prolong their dance lives.
