Today we’d like to introduce you to Rena Alwoan and John Wright.
Rena and John, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We are a “print shop” who deal mainly in sports (colleges, schools, leagues, travel ball etc.) so it felt like the right thing to do, to open up batting cages as well. So we make custom uniform and have a space for practice.
We are open to the general public so we have teams, couples, and individuals who love to use our cages.
We are the only facility who opens early morning and are open 7 days per week, rarely closing on holidays.
Has it been a smooth road?
We have our ups and downs but having the two companies, as one, balances out.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the WD Batting Cages story. Tell us more about the business.
Our main company is Wright Designs and we were established in 1999. We started working from our garage and have grown from there. We are mainly a family run company. We pride ourselves on our quality, pricing and amazing customer service.
We’ve become extremely close to our customers, we still provide services to some of the same people who would visit our small garage, back in 1999.
We had the opportunity to move to a larger facility, which would allow us to open batting cages. We are the only facility who opens early morning and 7 days per week. We see many of our Wright Designs Customers over at our WD Batting cages, along with new faces.
We feel extremely blessed to have such great customers and to be able to provide such a variety of services to all.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We hope to keep growing, as we have over the past 18+ years. We love what we do and hope to keep going strong!
We are pretty busy now but would love to be able to expand even more.
