Today we’d like to introduce you to Reiko Aoo.
Reiko, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It started when I was learning Qi Gong, I fixed my master’s knee pain that he had suffering for 30 years using only my hands with Qi. This made me believe in energy healing and prompted me to enroll in school to learn the TCM, and I have been practicing acupuncture combined with my qi ever since. I found out that human energy travels even faster with acupuncture needles.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I got a lot of help on the way, so it was pretty smooth for me.
I have good teachers when I started in schools, when I began practice and I joined the JAAC and also have a lot of help from other acupuncturists. I even spent almost 2 years working/learning from one of the best acupuncturists. All these helped me to be what I am today.
Kenko Acupuncture – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Kenko is a Japanese word which means good, balanced health.
I follow Japanese style of acupuncture, Japanese meridian therapy focuses on finding weak organs and try to improve the organ functions, and also improve other basic function like good bowel movement, good sleep at night, reduce pain, increase energy etc., all these will help patient to combat the illness more efficiently.
Also, Japanese style is very gentle compared to other styles, we want patient to be totally relaxed during the treatment. If you feel pain from the needle, your body get stressed and tight up which reduces the effect of the treatment.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
If I can reduce patient’s symptom, improve health through the treatment, this is considered as one success.
If I can successfully treat as many patients within my capability, this is considered my career success.
