Meet Rebekah Gaillard of Noisette Visuals in DTLA and Koreatown/Silver Lake

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebekah Gaillard.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Rebekah. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started taking photos in high school. I used to beg my uncle to give me his extra camera, I thought it was cool and I wanted to give it a shot. Fast forward to five years later or so, I decided to give it a full shot – meaning I took it more seriously. During those five years, I took photos here and there for friends and I saw the joy that my friends got when I took their photos. In August of 2017, I decided to drop a website for my work. I thought to myself, “if I’m going to do this, I need to do this wholeheartedly”. Any type of photo you can think of, I have done it. I will proudly say, it wasn’t until earlier this year did I find myself actually creating “art”. I essentially took matters into my own hands and started creative directing my own shoots. I even started working with a good friend of mine, Erica Whisler, to aid me in doing makeup for my models. I sit with her and run ideas past her and we find one we both agree on and shoot literally three days later. My passion for photography has also taken me into another journey – art shows. I have always wanted to participate in art shows but the timing never seemed right. My dear friend, Shadé Bell, came to visit LA in January and we both decided to host our first art show. We co-founded, Blooming Art Show, is an all-female showcase that illustrates the talents of women of color, from art to music. Being a creative entrepreneur has been a rollercoaster of a journey, nonetheless, it’s been a journey I am most proud of.

Has it been a smooth road?
I’d be lying if I said it was smooth and easy. This has been one of the hardest roads I have walked. Some days I sit and cry and wonder if it is all worth it. Some shoots I hate and others I love. Some shoots I sit back and really appreciate the growth I have obtained as an artist. There are even some days I want to throw everything away and start over again. As a female entrepreneur, one of the major struggles is being taken seriously. It’s a man’s world in many professions, so trying to make your place in the same profession is more difficult than others may see. I will say one thing, I am so happy for the fact that I have never given up, no matter how difficult it has gotten. As a creative and over thinker, everything is a process. I overthink absolute everything. I am also sensitive about my art – shoutout to Ms. Badu. One major struggle as an artist is patience. It seems to be the key of life, I am learning and it is extremely important when curating art. Like the late great Nip Hussle told us, “I just didn’t quit”.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Noisette Visuals – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I am the CEO of Noisette Visuals and co-founder of Blooming Art Show. Our company, Noisette Visuals, specializes in photography and creative direction. Through these skillsets, we are able to capture memories and visions through artistic expressions. We have taken photos of models, artists and landscape. We have curated single and cover art for artists as well. Music is a major portion of our business, everything we do we incorporate music from the shoots, planning and editing. Fun fact: when I shoot, I take my shoes off and play music so the model and I can really connect. In 2019, I branched off of Noisette Visuals and paired up with my business partner, Shadé Bell, to form “Blooming Art Show”. We started our own art show to develop a platform to allow artist that are women of color a space to show off their talents. We realized women, especially those of color, get overlooked and we have ample talent in our community.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Everything about LA is AMAZING! From the scenery, the vibe, the people and the events. I’ve lived in Brooklyn, New York so I’ve been a city girl majority of my life. LA is like a fast/slow city, it is fast-paced at times but also leisure enough to where you can sit back and enjoy the breeze. It is a different type of city, you can’t put it in one category. LA has helped me to develop a different type of hunger for my success. You can easily meet people around the world in the city and build some life-changing connections. One thing I believe we all can agree that we dislike is how expensive the city is and the traffic. Even with the negative I have previously stated, it has taught me patience and to be more responsible with my money.
