Meet Rebecca Taylor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Taylor.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Rebecca. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
I started in NW Florida by both receiving my marketing degree then going back to obtain my Cosmetology license. I have always focused on bright, bold fashion color… even when it wasn’t as desired or ‘mainstream.’ I started on social media with MySpace, then continued to build moving into the IG space… allowing me to make global connections, brand partnerships and continue putting my work out there. I ended up opening a salon in Florida but then selling after approx.

Four years to move to West Hollywood. Now being in West Hollywood for about four years now, I’ve been able to continue to build my brand online to over a million followers cumulatively across all social networks, have adapted and launched my own signature color line and have a creative studio in West Hollywood. I continue to educate for international markets, focus on brand development and creating visual content.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely not! I wish, lol. Adopting a social media strategy for my niche, early on when they weren’t any accounts/artists to emulate was a lot of trial and error. I started at a time when brands weren’t yet partnering with content creators or necessarily valuing what content creators could bring to the table with organic marketing.

It’s been a long road when it comes to finding brands to align myself that is a good fit. It’s all about communication, being honest about our mutual and individual goals and being consistent. I’m in a great place right now because everyone I work with… I have REAL connections with, and it’s not just a ‘paid to post’ scenario.

That’s the logistics side of it. It’s been a mental and emotional journey as well. Staying ‘relevant’ in an ever-changing, saturated market is often hard too. It’s about finding ways to stay connected to your work and audience and being ‘on’ even when you don’t necessarily want to put yourself out there on your social platforms.

I personally have to be very connected to my work and creative process for it to feel fulfilling and have substance.

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I’m most known for in the beauty industry for my work with bold hair color. I work to create editorial/educational content for my own brand and the brands I partner with. I work closely with Redken and my own signature color line, Trillion Tones.

I travel to educate stylists all over the world and work on creative content here in West Hollywood. I’ve always wanted to create inspiration with hair color that goes beyond just ‘funky’ or ‘crazy’ hair color.

For the past 15 years, I’ve wanted to elevate this market and change the way the industry and consumers feel about creative hair color.

What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?
I’m most proud to have specialized in and continue to evolve in this niche.

I’ve received some of the most respected accolades in my field and just want to continue to be tightly connected to my industry and with my peers moving forward.
