Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Hansen
Hi Rebecca, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was younger, I wanted to be a choreographer and an interior designer. I graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Modern Dance with an emphasis in choreography. After a few years of creating dances and working as a Pilates instructor, it was time to follow my other passion.
After completing my certification in interior design, I worked for the Standard Hotel in Los Angeles and West Hollywood. Seven years ago, I started my firm designing residential homes. I recently designed the primary suite in the Gatehouse for the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts. Currently, I am designing a new build from the ground up, including the furniture in the mountains of Costa Rica.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The transition to interior design has been pretty smooth. I’ve been a small business owner for most of my adult life. It’s similar to having Pilates clients and working with homeowners.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As an interior designer, our specialties are full-service residential home design and small business spaces. I love bathroom remodels, decor, and space planning. We are known for organic modern design with traditional elements and for creating fluidity and function within a home. We have the sensibility to create both an inviting space and a retreat. My company supports local businesses and artists as much as possible. We believe it not only gives back to the community but also helps lessen the impact on the plant.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I’ve learned to be patient. Nothing is permanent. Life is constantly changing and evolving.
