Today we’d like to introduce you to Raymond.
Raymond, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started out curating small scale events and brand activations within my city. From pizza parties for the homeless to carnivals inside of skate parks. I believe your brain + creativity is like a muscle and even when you’re not the strongest, it’s still important to flex and work it out daily to keep it in shape. So I would write my ideas down every day and try to bring them to life just to keep myself sharp. I began working at a Radio One after I graduated college doing marketing and promo and then I moved on to do retail marketing for a sneaker/apparel company. Shortly after that, I launched my own business “The Digital Footprint” (@Thedigitalfootprint) which is a creative marketing agency that specializes in branding, ideation, content strategy, social media, visual aesthetics, consulting, design and more.
This was when everything changed. If my life was going 40 miles per hour in a nice residential area before this…It was now going 100+ miles on a cross country highway. I felt like I was finally walking into my destiny. From influencer trips to collaborations with world-renown brands. My company partnered with capital one bank, Nike, courvoisier, sony, universal, beats by dre, mlb, redbull, under armour and more! Soon after that, we began managing superstar @ThatGirlJaycole and my partner and I ended up moving to California to run creative strategy for Ethika.
Random, but in the midst of this I managed to pay off all of my student loans off in one payment! And wrote a book about it lol But we can get to that another day haha.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Heck no lol One of my biggest struggles was spending time day in and day out at a toxic job that basically hindered my growth and potential. Over time, being in a situation like that and as well as on going financial strains can begin to take a toll on your confidence and momentum. And don’t get me started on the effects of toxic internet culture lol but that’s a story for another day.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into The Digital Footprint story. Tell us more about the business.
I specialize in creative strategy + branding and pretty much I can make anything or anyone look cooler than what they really are in real life lol I combine my knowledge of culture and digital trends to curate campaigns and activations that make sense for the brands/influencers that trust me.
My company specializes in pretty much everything…creative. From design, marketing, branding, storytelling, content strategy, photography, social media campaigns, management and more.
I think the thing that sets me as well as my company apart is our patience and willingness to do things organically and never to force things. We take our time and do things that make sense for everyone. Also, we value relationships and social currency more than anything. Honestly, we’re just good genuine people and we try our best to share the love, put people on and learn from the constantly moving world around us.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Bad luck played a huge part in my personal life and business. Bad luck honestly taught me to always have a fail-safe on deck just in case the unexpected happens.
