Meet Ray Hunt of Save More Appliance

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ray Hunt.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Ray. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Save More Appliance is a family owned business and has been in the consumer electronics industry for a little more than 30 years. We started our business in a garage selling TVs and audio equipment. Big box stores and online outlets began to make it difficult for a small business to compete because of their buying power. Save More switched gears and we started to focus on supplying builders, designers and general public with high end appliances at wholesale prices. At the same time creating personalized service big box stores and internet sites do not.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Running a small business hasn’t been a smooth road. There are struggles and good times as well, one thing that never changes is the hard work and many hours invested. We have had to shut down warehouses because we could stay profitable.

We have simply made bad investments when buying inventory. There have been occasions when companies and individuals have taken our payment but never delivered on the goods. On the selling side we have had customers pay with counterfeit money, fraudulent credit cards & bad checks. Throughout the years you learn to minimize investment risks and in general protect the business.

Please tell us about Save More Appliance.
Our product offering has always been focused on selling high end manufactures at wholesale prices. We sell new, display & open box items at discounts ranging from 40% to 60% off retail prices. We carry top rated major appliance brands and specialize in getting our customers the best possible appliances without going over budget for any replacement, remodeling or new construction project. We are proud to offer our customers their choice of appliances that they may have thought were out of budget. We offer personalized service, if a customer has any questions or requests they can contact us directly and always talk to someone who really appreciates their business.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I’m a big hockey fan. When Wayne Gretzky came to the LA Kings he had a public meet and greet at the South Coast plaza. There were over 3,000 people there to see him. I was lucky enough to meet him and talk a little hockey & get some autographs. While the great one was talking to me and signing my jersey the OC register took a photo of us and it ended up on the front page of the OC register sports section.
