Meet Rasheed Prescott of Krietiv (Creative) Imagery in Bellflower

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rasheed Prescott.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Rasheed. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ll never forget the day I saw my daughter, Samiya-Skyy for the first time. I saw her beautiful face and I wanted to capture this moment forever. As I reflected back to that day in 2012, I realized that moments like these not only needed to be captured but that print photography wasn’t obsolete. My name is Rasheed Prescott, I delved into the professional photography business in 2015. I started as a joint venture and recently decided to launch my company, Krietiv (Creative) Imagery. Although I do believe people support particular brands based on the brand alone, but I also believe people support people that do awesome business. I pride myself on being punctual, communicative and easy to work with.

Throughout my photography journey, I’ve had the honor and privilege of assisting and being mentored by celebrity photographer James Anthony. While assisting Mr. Anthony, I was afforded the opportunity to work with many greats such as: Angela Simmons (Growing Up Hip Hop), Estelle (Singer), Angelica Ross (Pose) and Yvonne Orji (Insecure).

Has it been a smooth road?
My photography road has not been as easy as I’d like. My first photography company was a joint venture. We were in partnership from 2015-2019. Clients and potential clients bought into not only the quality of service but the overall product. The most difficult part about Krietiv (Creative) Imagery has been the rebranding process. Potential clients knew I was a photographer however, they had never heard of Krietiv Imagery.

Additionally, photography is considered a luxury expense. Certain parts of the year are a lot slower than others. For example, the fourth quarter is typically the most challenging. When you factor in back to school shopping, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas, luxuries typically take a backseat. I’ve learned to get creative with specials during those slower months to hopefully entice potential clients.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My preferred photography style is captured under natural lighting. I love photographing families, couples, headshots and milestones (engagement parties, weddings and birthdays). Something that sets me apart is the communication leading up to the shoot. I like my photography locations to represent the client. When a client initially inquires about my service, I request they tell me a little about themselves/family and try to identify special locations that might hold some significance. After that, I like to discuss any potential insecurities so the client feels as comfortable as possible. One of my favorite quotes is, “medicine cures the body and music cures the soul.” Because music cures the soul, I always have live music on location. I do this because when music is played, it’s usually less posing and more of candid/natural outcome. The more natural one can be, the better.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I think Los Angeles is a perfect place for photography. Some may say it’s an over saturated market but I don’t believe that to be so. One thing I love most about photography is that you can have 100 photographers photographing one subject in the same setting and you’ll get 100 different styles and perspectives. To me, that’s art.
