Today we’d like to introduce you to Rania Nasreen White.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Rania Nasreen. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I think my love for film really began when I was a young teen watching movies with my Dad. Prior to that, I felt at home on the school stage. Just made me feel alive. Combined I found a huge admiration and respect for the craft as a whole.
I moved to LA from London. I would say my real start professionally in the field began when I started taking classes and decided I was going to go after what I really wanted. I joined Identity School Of Acting in 2018 after auditioning for a place. I started to look for rep which isn’t easy as a newcomer. It’s like what came first in acting the chicken or the egg. Because it’s hard to get roles if you don’t get auditions and you can’t get that without good rep. But without credits, it’s hard to get that. So it’s a journey. But after all, there’s no where to go at the top 😉
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nothing worth having is without struggle at least that’s what I believe. Besides, I think it feels better if you’ve worked for it. With that said, I think the main challenges in this field are believing in yourself. You are up for so much scrutiny and judgment as an actor and not just from professionals in your field but everyone. I think it’s that one profession where everyone feels like they have a valid opinion. So much focus is on booking the job that you forget to pat yourself on the back just for doing a good job regardless of if you get it.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I find myself being most proud or accomplished when I set goals and can tick them off. It’s challenging sometimes to stay motivated when you are basically self-employed. Sometimes you have to be your biggest cheerleader and I’m better at doing that for others than myself. So that’s a definite challenge. I’m currently focused on being ready to go when we come out of this pandemic as most things are on hold at the moment I’m working on self tapes from home. Also I am starting to bring together my business plan for an eco friendly holistic brand of supplements. I’m really in to health and fitness. Especially natural remedies to boost the immune system and natural hair and skin care.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
For me success is happiness. Whatever that looks like to you. Setting goals and targets for yourself and accomplishing them is success. Constantly bettering myself and challenging myself. I’ve set some goals for 2020 and when I achieve them that will be success. I think success can be constant and ever-changing. We may deem someone successful whilst they don’t believe it to be true for themselves.
So success for me personally is going after my goals whilst staying true to myself and not taking the easy road.
