Today we’d like to introduce you to Randy (Enzo Rarri) Bondurant.
Hi Randy (Enzo Rarri), so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
About me
I recall a photo of me when I just a child I had a keyboard and I was smiling. My mother showed me this photo and said to me that I was attached to music. Ever since then I was involved in music. The women in my family, my aunt and grandmother including my mother all play great music around me. The one who stood out the most was Michael Jackson. Once I heard and saw the performance I was hooked. I would pretend to dance like him. I had other influences as well like Prince, Tyrone Davis, Denise Williams, Stephanie Williams, The Temptations and other artists around that era. As I grew I messed around with music, sports, video games, and even go karts. I had a thing for cars. When I got to middle school around the 5th, 6th or 7th grade a friend by the name of Jason Krill whom later his mom got remarried and changed their last name to Carne introduced me to this software in computer class call Fruity Loops. It was the first version of it and it only had 10 loops. I was intrigued by this software that produced musical sound in the form of loops. The software looks nothing like the software today. From there on I was following along with the company as they continued to upgrade it. When it got to version 4 I was hooked. From there I was experimenting with sounds as the software developed to something I couldn’t imagine.
My aunt gave me and my mother a computer from her job since they were upgrading their computers. My aunt worked at a law firm in Woodbridge New Jersey. I would install FL studio on it and continue to learn how to make beats. I went through several computers cause either a virus got into it from me illegally downloading music from limewire or FL studio would crash and cause an error or I just wanted to learn how it worked as well and upgrade parts if need be.
All through high school I would make beats and even work with a few of my classmates on making music. I was still using FL Studio at the time and colliding and just honing in on the beep making craft. I even went through a little bit of our stream myself having various of artist names I was writing my own music. An artist that really got me into writing and rapping was actually Eminem and Jay-Z. I really enjoyed M&M’s music because it was very different from your particular rap. He talked about controversial topics and I just never heard anybody rap the way he does. It was very entertaining and it made sense even if he did make some songs just pure out of just fun. It still makes sense to me the rap style cadences the nuances was just very amazing.
I was even part of a duo Artist group. I think we had various of names as well. One was ace oasis and this was around the time. My space was still a thing. After high school I took off to full sail University in Winter Park, Florida around 2007. There were so many people there I met so many different talents Producers and artist. A few I have became close friends with throughout my time at full sail university.
Around 2015 I flew out to California in pursuit of music. I had reconnected with a fellow Music Producer and friend from full sale was crashing on his sofa for a while. I bounced around from different jobs took on two jobs at a time at some point just to keep some money in my pocket . I even joined up with his music production company called left Lang production. Did a few records with a couple artists and this was around the time I was using logic.
We actually had a record stolen from us by an artist. This artist was signed to a label and they did not pay us for the production of the beat. Not too long after I decided to go my own ways and do my own thing.
I started to intern at a studio called No Name Studios that Kanye West was leasing in North Hollywood. The studio manager at the time was Tia Jade. I was there interning for several months until the lease was up. During the last couple weeks Tia made a decision to start her own studio and was looking for staff to join the movement. I was one of them. At that time I was introduce to one of my very good friend and a great engineer Jojo. Tia found a location for the studio not to far from the location from No Name Studios. A few of the staff were supposed to go along and help set up the studio and get operational but most failed to go and provide help. So it was me and jojo there to help Tia out. We bought all the gear and cables need to get things up and running and Jojo and I were the ones running the show. I was his assistant for every session from day one. Jojo and I went through many sessions together and tackled dozens of issues. I can say that we had amazing chemistry together.
Also during the middle of time there at K.I.S (Killer Instinct Studios) which was the name of Tia’s studio. Another great Recording Engineer was Oscar. Jojo, Oscar and became great friends. Together we became the Dynamic trio of the studio. Holding it down for K.I.S. These two will forever be my brothers in the music industry and outside of the industry. Working at KIS I met a phenomenal music producer and great person in general name Che Pope. Working with him was always great and it if it was through him I wouldn’t have worked with the one and only great Kanye West, Pusha-T, Chi-Hy the Prince and many other great talented artist, producers, and writers. I appreciate him a lot and what he needs me I’ll be there to pick up the phone and be there.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not really but the journey I would do it all gain. I was almost homeless twice, well 3 times but things shifted for the better and kept my eyes on the goal. Even in some of the studio sessions were tough and long nights. Sometimes not even sleeping for several days. After some sessions I would sleep in the studio and not go some since I was to be back there the following day. Jojo, Oscar and I all have been in this situation together or individually. Even some of the assistants and interns would join in.
It is truly great when the clients rock with you and want to continue going with staff and engineers.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
For me I wear many hats. A business owner, Recording Engineer, Mix Engineer, songwriter, music producer and beat maker. I am proud of everything that touch and do. I think my uniqueness is the fact. that I am a triple threat with music with being able to produce, write and engineer.
What does success mean to you?
Success is very broad term but I say whatever you are good at just do it well and to have a peace of mind and life with a balance is success. If money and material things are taken out and you still have a peace of mind and great spirit then you have truly have success.
