Meet Randy D. Rosario of Randy D. Rosario, Visual Artist (randydr.com) in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Randy D. Rosario.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Randy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always been a creative kid but never really thought I can make a career out of it. It wasn’t until high school when one of my teachers saw my potential in digital arts and it made me rethink what I wanted to do for a living. Even after graduating I didn’t really know what my job was because I was freelancing doing various things. I was working as a designer for commercials, doing post-production or retouching for advertisement, animating, illustrating, you name it I was doing it. Sometimes it was just learning as I go but I got most of my work through friends or colleagues from school.

During that time I was always working on my own personal art too and it helped balance out the commercial work which I also love too… I decided to launch The Panda Rabbit, a character that represents being different and unique. I have books dolls, clothing and accessories and sell in various stores in LA and online (thepandarabbit.com). Glow The Unicorn is a new character I am developing and will be turned into an animation. I am really excited about that! (glowtheunicorn.com)

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think some of the struggles is not knowing when to stop and also not being so hard on yourself. I find one of my struggles is not concentrating sometimes. When I put my mind to something I get it done! But I have so much I want to do it sometimes overwhelms me. The best thing is to just focus on the main priority and then work on whats in line next!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Randy D. Rosario, Visual Artist (randydr.com) – what should we know?
randydr.com is my visual artist website and I freelance with various companies, musicians and brands. I do photography and creative direction, animating, illustration and video. This is a perfect way for me to collaborate and meet talented people all over the world.

One thing I’m very proud of is being able to collaborate with companies and brands and make sure my stamp is implemented in the work. I love when I show a project to a friend and they say “That’s totally you”. I don’t want to work on a project that I’m not passionate about.

The Panda Rabbit and Glow the Unicorn are my babies. This is my personal art where I have full control. I sell various merchandise from books, pins, patches, clothing, and accessories. (thepandarabbit.com, glowtheunicorn.com) Being a versatile artist sets anyone apart because of the range of work you can do. I would be bored just doing one thing.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Hard work and passion. My idea of success is not to feel bored. I love to work because it’s fun. When you get bored it’s not really worth it.
