Meet Rami Kalla and Austin Nordell of Point in Time Studios in University Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rami Kalla and Austin Nordell.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Rami and Austin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started out filming when I was 10 years old. My Father had brought home one of those large video cameras with half the VCR and it was love at first sight! I immediately began writing scripts and making films with my friends and family. Since then, in the past 15 years, I have been fortunate enough to grow our studio into one of the top boutique studios in the country! We have had the pleasure of working with such clients as Ford, PetSmart and McDonalds! I still love what I do and I have an Amazing creative team who has helped me realize my childhood dream!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I wish I could say that it has been a smooth road, but it has not! When we started Point in Time Studios in March of 2003, we were off to the races! Business was booming and we picked up some big clients very early on. Then, of course, came the downturn in 2008. At this point, we had built a large production studio and invested a lot of money. Unfortunately, the business had slowed down significantly and we had a difficult time renting out our stage. Since then, we have run our business much efficiently and we do a much better job taking more calculated risks as we expand into our markets!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are a full-service Film, 3D Animation and Virtual Reality studio. We are extremely proud of the many commercials and corporate clients that we have worked with in the past! However, we have truly enjoyed the journey over the past years of venturing into new markets, such as VR! We are definitely well known for being on the cutting edge and for providing our customers with a ridiculously awesome experience!

What were you like growing up?
I was definitely that kid with his head in the clouds! I would constantly daydream and think of ideas for movies or how I would have directed a movie I just saw, but better! I have definitely always had that drive to succeed and I did really well in school. I wasn’t too much of a troublemaker, but my friends and I would get into a little trouble now and then. I always knew that I wanted to do big things in my life and I understood at a very young age, that it takes a lot of hard work and hard-headed mentality to get there! Most of which I learned from my Father!
