Meet Ralph Garman of The Ralph Report

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ralph Garman.

Ralph, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I had been an L.A. radio personality for almost two decades. Besides radio, I also had some success in television (THE JOE SCHMO SHOW, FAMILY GUY), film (TED, A MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST) and podcasting (HOLLYWOOD BABBLE-ON with KEVIN SMITH).

Then, after over 18 years, KROQ-FM in Los Angeles unceremoniously dumped me from the long-running “Kevin & Bean Show”. Frankly, this shocked me and outraged many of my long-time listeners.

I was reaching over million listeners a day on KROQ-FM, and my long-running podcast, HOLLYWOOD BABBLE-ON, had reached more than 25 million listeners on SoundCloud alone. Kevin Smith and I have also performed the podcast in front of live audiences around the world, selling out venues in the U.S., England, Ireland, and Canada.

Over 100,000 of my fans follow me on Twitter, and more than 37, 000 on Instagram, but, now that I was no longer on-air every day, my listeners we asking for more of me. And so, I thought perhaps I could start my own “Internet morning show” and developed a new program, THE RALPH REPORT.

THE RALPH REPORT is a daily podcast that showcases my unique comic take of news, current events, and the world of entertainment. It features all the elements that my fans loved from my previous work, however, there are new aspects to the show as well, like sit-down interviews with my celebrity friends.

THE RALPH REPORT debuted in January 2018.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Producing my show is pretty much a one-man operation. For the first time in my career, I have to book the guests, arrange the interviews, record and edit the audio, do all the post-production audio work, as well … It’s been a steep learning curve.

Please tell us about The Ralph Report.
The fact that we’re producing a DAILY podcast is unique. There are tons of weekly shows out there, but very few that are delivering an hour’s worth if original audio entertainment, Monday through Friday.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I used to do the show solo, but, I recently added a co-host, Eddie Pence. I would have started with another voice on the show from the start. It’s a better and more energetic dynamic.
