Today we’d like to introduce you to Rae Michalik and Eleanor Lee.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Rae and Eleanor. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I (Rae) approached Eleanor on the street to collaborate together on a photoshoot for a brand I was working for. We worked really well together – it’s rare to find someone who aligns with the same vision and shares the same passions. We ran all over the city from the Arts District to Santa Monica – in a day’s work we got months worth of diverse content. With the escalating importance of social media, I suggested we start a business together creating diverse lifestyle content for brands.
Next thing you know, we created Meraki Narrative and started working on the foundation and building our portfolio. We didn’t start reaching out to clients until early January and have been non-stop since! We went from content creation only, to providing social management, influencer & partnership management, graphic design & branding, and overall strategic marketing consulting.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
If it were completely smooth, what fun would that be? The best part is we’ve been learning, growing and evolving along the way. I think the biggest thing we quickly overcame is being taken advantage of – we’re sometimes viewed by larger brands as young & naive because we’re a startup… young, yes… naive, definitely not. We handle our approach differently with each new client because we’ve learned from any missteps.
You can have 100 declines before you have 1 that decides to move forward. We have to be selective with who we work with, if we don’t believe in their product or our work & integrity isn’t respected then we move on. We’ve had the opportunity to work with some really lovely people and couldn’t be happier with our journey so far!

We are a full-service social media + creative agency that specializes in creating content that tells a brand’s story. We love to dive into brand identity and core to create the narrative they want to convey to the consumers. We are best known for our lifestyle content – we like to add a human touch and show friends enjoying a product together, or a couple at home making brunch, or taking it on-the-go.
Living in LA means we have access to content creation heaven – from the beach to the mountains, to the forest, to the desert, and even to downtown city vibe & hipster street art. We love showing how versatile a product can be in different environments.
Something we’re very proud of is the personalization we give every client. We like to focus on small businesses (such as ourselves) and want to help them succeed and for us to grow together. We customize every package to their needs and are working one-on-one with them directly, they don’t get lost in a huge agency that doesn’t give them the attention to detail they deserve.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We’re looking forward to expanding our portfolio to other industries and opportunities. What’s so exciting about our day-to-day is it’s never the same and we hope to add even more variety. Traveling is a must, we love adventure and exploring – what better way to do that than to document the trip with our clients’ product along for the ride? We eventually plan to expand our team and find a permanent office/studio – we already have so many ideas of how to create an amazing work environment and be the best bosses ever. 🙂
