Today we’d like to introduce you to Rae and Addison.
Rae moved to Los Angeles with a suitcase and less than $100 in August 2017. During her journey, she met people within the music industry and would sometimes have up to three sessions a day with various artists, producers, and other creatives. About two months after being in LA, she met Addison Scott, a Long Island native, and artist. It was wild. We began to really lock into a creative flow beyond what words can say.
We dedicated ourselves everyday to creating. We both sing, and can communicate ideas to each other faster than any people we had worked with in the past. For lack of a better word, it was magic. After months and months, we decided it was time to join forces and create a project together. Because both of us had our own solo projects for years, it was a huge decision to put that on pause.
The night we met, we both were wearing rosy colored, round sunglasses. Often times at sessions we would get them confused with each other because they were so similar. Right now, our world feels at an all-time low. It feels like every day there is something on the news, or on television that is depressing.
We created, “rosecoloredworld,” which is now our band name. It stands for so much more than having matching glasses, but instead, it is an experience where there is no judgement and a place where fans/friends can escape the “real world” and just be at peace while listening to our music. It’s a safe space to dance, be free, love and find your truth.
We released our first single 1/11/2019 on Spotify, Apple Music, and many other platforms and it is already getting some massive exposure. We believe rosecoloredworld is beyond our band, but a movement. Much more music is on the way in 2019, and we are so stoked to see what the future holds.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has not been easy… 2016 was a very traumatic and transformative year for both of us.
Addison had a manager/investor/who passed away tragically days before Addison’s solo radio campaign. After that happened, he kind of became jaded. Before meeting Rae, he was trying to pick himself up and find what his next moves would be since the death was so devastating.
Rae also lost someone she was close with, and who she dated on and off. He passed from a drug overdose, and it completely changed her perspective of what it meant to be truly alive. His death truly passed her to be passionate about life and not take no for an answer.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are an indie/pop duo that was created in LA.
We are known for being completely independent. From production to writing to singing to harmonies to arrangement, we literally do all of it ourselves. It’s pretty powerful to see what you’re capable of when you decide you will stop at nothing to achieve it. We JUST started inviting select people to help with some writing, but it is very rare.
We are most proud of the music we are creating because we both couldn’t find our sound for a long time, and coming together really birthed a whole new wave. Our first release was a huge success, and we packed out a club in Hollywood.
I believe a couple of things sets us apart. One of those is that this is beyond the music.
We are creating an entire reality where people can really be themselves. Our shows are an experience, and we pride ourselves on the energy we give to our audience on and off the stage.
What were you like growing up?
Rae: Very passionate. I always kind of knew music was going to be my path. I loved to read and write and play the piano. To be honest, I am just a music nerd that learned how to do makeup. I am still that nerd. I would lock myself in my room and learn piano scales and sing. Taught myself piano at 12 and started writing music around age 15.
Addison: Outgoing, always the life of the party. Would do anything to get a laugh out of friends and family. Hated school/thought it was a joke. Didn’t start singing until around 17, but always was in bands. Originally started out as a drummer and went on tour right out of high school.
