Meet Radek Rosiak of Tennis in LA in Santa Monica

Today we’d like to introduce you to Radek Rosiak.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story?
I am originally from Poland and I was playing tennis since I was a little kid and always had a dream to achieve something in this sport. I was playing in national tournaments and also trying many international Futures and Challenger tournaments. I was traveling a lot also playing international league matches in Italy and Germany. One day I received a scholarship offer from a US college. I didn’t think too long since that was the best way to get a high-quality education while still playing tennis plus offer came from California. I have already started teaching tennis on site while I was still playing professional tennis so it wasn’t hard for me to teach few hours on site while I was in college and that built a ground for starting full-time tennis business right after I finished college. I found a need to high-quality tennis lessons in Santa Monica area and this is how Tennis in LA started.

Has it been a smooth road?
It wasn’t easy especially at the beginning because this area is very difficult in terms of courts availability. There are not too many spots where you can legally give a tennis lesson or overall get a court for commercial use. So we had to juggle around the city and travel a lot. Now we developed some great relationships with some locations so it is much easier to manage it but still there is a wish that land would be much more affordable to just build our own courts. Who knows maybe in the future? Also now we have a great team which I can send to people to give tennis lessons so our area of operations constantly expands.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Tennis in LA – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Tennis in LA is a high-quality tennis school which specializes mainly in private and semi-private tennis lessons and also we do group sessions. Our team is made of only former tennis players with already great teaching experience so our clients are sure that they are getting lessons from the best of the best. We are teaching all ages and levels. We invite clients to our places in Santa Monica and surrounding areas but also we are willing to travel to client’s location or house.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I like that there is a lot of people who are really active plus wanna live a healthy lifestyle and the are choosing tennis as one of their ways to spend their free time and get a workout. There is a lot of positivity and friendliness here and of course, you can’t beat the weather. What I like the least is the traffic and a small number of courts where teaching tennis is allowed.
