Meet Ronald Stein of PTS Staffing Solutions in Irvine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ronald Stein.

Ronald Stein is founder of PTS Staffing Solutions (“PTS”). PTS is a family business that provides Engineering, IT and Professional Staffing. Ron launched PTS in mid-career. First, he worked in the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) industry for 20 years as a Project Manager. He acquired an in-depth knowledge of the petrochemical industry.

In any business, a passion to succeed and relationships are the keys to success. To be able to communicate, verbally and in writing, training is recommended. Toastmasters training in Ron’s early years as an Electrical Engineer, lead to Project Management opportunities. Sales and Marketing Training after decades of Project Management experiences, enhanced Ron’s abilities to nurture relationships. Thus, the Toastmasters, and Sales and Marketing training were the fundamental building blocks for what was to be PTS Staffing Solutions.

Prior to founding PTS in 1995, Ron was the Project Manager for Universal Studios on their Jaws attraction at their Orlando, Florida theme park that opened in 1990. From 1987 to 1990, Ron worked for Universal as the PM of a very talented team that took the Jaws attraction from a concept through development of the storyline, ride, animation, special effects, audio effects, and lighting effects. It took 3 years and $25 million dollars (1980 dollars) to produce this attraction that entertained guests for 21 years. Jaws was demolished after 21 years to make room for a more current attraction, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The last day for the Jaws ride at Universal Studios in Orlando was January 2, 2012. The video of the attraction’s last day has already been viewed by almost 100 million!!   http://youtu.be/QurplyEz_P4

PTS Staffing Solutions was formed by the Founder from the humble beginnings back in 1995 of being unemployed for the first time his career, an SBA loan and a 3rd mortgage on his home to cover payroll, no salary for the first year, and a home office operating out of a spare bedroom.

Ron founded PTS to address the emerging need for a focused staffing provider. One that, unlike nonspecialized staffing agencies, could partner with companies to provide them with unique tailored staffing solutions and address their short and long term staffing needs Today, PTS is one of the largest Employment Agencies in Orange County, and the primary supplier to the petrochemical industry in California.

The vision for PTS was to be the first employee centric staffing firm to provide technical and professional staffing augmentation services. Now, 23 years later, focusing on employee benefit rich packages for its contractor employees working at various client locations throughout California, PTS is amongst the largest staffing firms in Orange County.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
PTS is a relatively new company in the century old staffing industry, but Ron’s vision chose to deviate from the staffing industries’ 100 year old business model. Unlike most of the staffing industries agencies over the last century that provided no employee benefits, no transparency, and no justification of their billing rates to the client, PTS changed the industry.

Ron chose to focus on what was beneficial to the clients in terms of transparency of costs and employee benefits offered to attract and retain contractors that were placed to work at client locations.

Employees that work through PTS, immediately gain access to PTS’s comprehensive employee benefits package, known to be the best in the industry. Strong benefits combined with no waiting period makes PTS the choice amongst leading professionals in the specialized industries they service.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the PTS Staffing Solutions story. Tell us more about the business.
Founded by Ron, the Stein family owns and operates PTS Staffing Solutions based in Irvine, California, and a leading West Coast regional provider of engineering & professional staffing outsource solutions. PTS specializes in technical and professional staffing augmentation to the petrochemical, power, transportation, and infrastructure related industries.

Unlike many staffing agency competitors, the PTS’s worksite employees are immediately eligible for a comprehensive employee benefits package. This offering is rare among staffing firms and has resulted in a highly loyal candidate pool as well as longer term assignments.

For its clients, PTS standardized transparency on the details of wage rates they pay their contractors, to the billing rates to their clients, in finite detail inclusive of the extensive employee benefits that are all inclusive in the company billing rates.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Today, Ron focuses on nurturing client relationships and authoring Op Ed articles that enhance PTS’s credibility. He actively shares his views about the energy industry and the economy. Ron is the Committee Chairman for the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Infrastructure Report Card on the Energy Sector in California to tell the oil industry’s story to educate the 38 million citizens of California, to ensure that Californians have the energy they need to power the state’s economy, while legislators are designing policies that protect our environment.

As Chairman of the Energy Sector Infrastructure for the entire state of California, Ron will help raise awareness about local infrastructure needs. The state Report Card builds recognition of the infrastructure issues in the community that people may not have been aware of before.

Many of Ron’s Op Ed articles are on the subject of the economy that cannot run on intermittent electricity from wind and solar alone, as the military, aviation, and cruise liners industries rely on fossil fuels for their energy, and our citizens rely on all those products and chemicals manufactured from fossil fuels that make up our lifestyle as they are NOT manufactured from solar panels or wind turbines.

Over the last few decades, Ron has become the unofficial private industry spokesperson for the fossil fuel infrastructure.

Ron also provides philanthropic support for California State University Fullerton (CSUF) and the local economy via sponsoring and participating in the Advisory Boards for 3 of the California State University Fullerton Centers of Excellence for: Entrepreneurship, Leadership, and Family Business.
