Meet Priscila Martinez of The Brand Agency in West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Priscila Martinez.

Priscila, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My career started at the largest privately owned public relations firm in the US. At the beginning of your career you find yourself stuffing gift bags at 2 am or running around the city doing product drops but you also found yourself learning about the interworkings of fashion, beauty, entertainment and luxury and that was fascinating to me. I often joke that I have Stockholm syndrome, I fell in love with my captor. PR is a grueling career but if you have a vocation for it, you won’t mind a day of work. After working for the big guys for close to nine years, I realized that I could perfect the operation. I wanted all the perks that come with PR minus the catty culture and unnecessary hierarchy. I wanted to provide my employees with a place where they could grow and feel fulfilled. With this mission in mind, I started my firm in 2015- The Brand Agency.

Has it been a smooth road?
It’s never a smooth road. If you’re not uncomfortable, you aren’t doing your job. There are highs and there are lows but thankfully we’ve built an amazing culture that provides a safety net when the times get tough. Many days feel like you are putting out one fire to go on to the next, but having a team that you can count on takes the sting of an awful day away.

Tell us about your business/company. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?
We are a full service communications firm that specializes in luxury, lifestyle and entertainment sectors. Our clients span many disciplines like fashion, beauty, media and heritage brands but the common thread is the way we weave their stories into compelling narratives.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I detest traffic. You will often catch me and my dog Kingston rolling our eyes as we make our way down to our office in West Hollywood from our home in Laurel Canyon. What I love about our city are the friendships you make along the way. I have friends from all walks of life that enrich me every day with their varied experiences and ways of looking at the world.
