Meet Arturo Sneider of Primestor in Culver City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Arturo Sneider.

Arturo, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Native of Mexico City over the last 30 years, focused on the economic development and neighborhood improvement of minority, low/mod income communities of SoCal and US at-large. Job creation has been a main focus. Started out working mostly alongside Mexican immigrants and getting to know their issues and life challenges. Started out doing tiny neighborhood building remodeling and community/social research leading up to large scale/institutional projects employing thousands of local residents.

Has it been a smooth road?
Anything but. Redlining. Discrimination. Lack of access to capital. Indifference. We had to develop a comprehensive strategy and community-based activism to compel government and business to engage, care and change their approach.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Primestor story. Tell us more about the business.
We specialize in community empowerment and economic development through real estate projects. We have a comprehensive community engagement and consensus planning strategy that is grassroots based and lead. We are the leaders in our space and are most proud of being thought of and considered a Latino/minority-owned and centric business that cares and employs the community with a long term vision.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We have reached a point where the scale of projects increases materially and our ability to bring in large scale capital is strong. Our neighborhoods are now transitioning into demanding more density in the projects. More variety of product types – mixed-uses such as entertainment, housing, office, hospitality, etc. Additionally, the development of a true public transportation infrastructure is driving our transit-oriented focus.
