Meet Preshiousmargie Willice of Queen Medusa Hair Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Preshiousmargie Willice.

Preshiousmargie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I began doing hair at the age of 14. But I would only do mine and my moms. After graduating high school and experiencing a little bit of life I began to pursue a career in cosmetology. I started beauty school and began taking clients. I would drive to clients or they would drive to me and I would set up my tools. Cosmetology is my dream job and I’m just getting started. There have been bumps in the road but that comes with anything in the world. I’m learning and growing through this experience. I love what I do and I will continue to go after my dream until fulfilled.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been hard getting into an industry that everyone is in. There have been discouraging problems. My original beauty school shut down. I had to switch schools. While in school, my kit was stolen and I lost everything. Over the years it’s been hard trying to get everything back but I have achieved more than I expected. Learning new styles have been challenging because there’s always something new coming out. Overall it’s been a challenging experience but I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. This is my journey and I will embrace it to the fullest.

Please tell us about Queen Medusa Hair Studio.
I am a hairstylist and I specialize in braids. I would like to specialize in weaves and frontals but my main styles are braided styles. I am most proud of how I keep going and learning and trying new things. I’m different from others because I offer more than the average stylist. I want my clients to feel relaxed and have no worries about if they need their hair washed or if they need braiding hair for their style. I do provide it all if needed.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory is when I learned how to braid. My brother bought my mom a mannequin head and I would watch her do different styles on it. I began to sneak and use the doll head until she caught me. She taught me how to braid and I’ve been perfecting my craft ever since.
