Today we’d like to introduce you to Peter Pinnock.
Peter, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My journey as a dancer/artist in L.A. started back in 2014 at the age of 18! I moved out here with dreams and the ambition to influence, grow and inspire anybody with a dream that all things are possible with hard work and in due time. I was a small-town kid with big goals just like a lot of us although I worked and have always wanted to put action and proof behind that statement.
I began by training in my craft as much as possible with having the focus of simply wanting to prosper in my purpose and allowing my work ethic to speak for itself. There has and always will be ups and downs but what’s kept me going is the ability to pick back up from any setback with the knowing that anything is possible. I’ve studied the ins and outs of my industry so that id be able to face any giant it brings. Whether it was any injury, any no from an audition or worrying about if I could afford rent in my beginning years, what I’ve practiced and preached is having Faith, Patience and Persistence. Learned that this dream and what I’ve wanted in life is way bigger than me and continues to build a story and path that many others can see and believe the same things in themselves. Life is limitless… All things are possible only if you believe in that.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Smooth may be the wrong word for it but I will say it has been one hell of a journey! So many hard days amongst the good but in those of which have made me who I am today. Hearing many no’s, feeling not good enough, tall enough or whatever it may be… all made me push even harder and allowed what was TRULY meant for me and my journey be. I took a rough fall back in 2016… I blew out my knee during a live performance and had to have surgery which put me in remission for 6-8 months… I felt my world crash down on me… Hard work, blood sweat and tears felt very worthless in that moment but… I needed that downtime mentally mainly but also physically for so many reasons that without it, I truly believe I wouldn’t be where I am or who I am today. Sometimes it’s the falls that truly craft your journey. You lose some. You win some. It’s your choice to keep it rocking’ and for me, its the journeys rocky roads, crazy turns and dramatic falls that make it all worth it and even that much more beautiful.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a professional dancer, Choreographer and Teacher. I have toured the world through dance and teaching. I teach and influence weekly in L.A. while also traveling to share. I offer private lessons, dance classes and influence those in need amongst professional dance/choreography. I am known for all three and specialize in the entertainment world and arts. I am most proud of my influence on my generation and generations to come. The ability to inspire many other dreamers and artists to aspire to go for all they’ve ever wanted to be in life and with their craft. It keeps me going knowing other people are touched and moved by my story and all I am publishing/producing. I am proud of my process and also to say I’ve accomplished majority of my dreams as a dancer within the years I’ve been here but mainly the light that I am told I leave in a room or space I was in. I would say what sets me apart is the fact what I do isn’t about me or just for me I pledge to do all I do for the betterment and benefit of so many others and anyone willing to share this journey with me.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I have so many people who deserve credit throughout my years. I have been blessed with a very beautiful support system. Just to name a few I would say…
Marie Thompson (my mom who without I wouldn’t be at all where I am today), Brenda Piovano, Mike Thompson, Elyse Koepp, Cheryl Carty, Kelly Burnette, Chris Chawi, Devin Solomon, Pastor Casey Casal, Free Boogie, and so many others…
They have all given me tools to help further myself not only as an artist or business but just as a good human being. Some are teachers some are family but they all are God sent.
