Meet Peter Angelo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Peter Angelo.

Peter, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up in CT and began working as a doorman for local comedy shows. After some time, I was told I should try it. I did and fell in love because it was something I always enjoyed. After a few years of performing, I came out of the closet incorporating that into my act. Being a gay metalhead working as a truck driver, I brought my unique outlook to the stage and started making an impact. I loved to NYC after eight years of performing to further pursue my dreams.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Coming to terms with being open about who I am was always a struggle, not knowing where I fit in. Plus, the wear and tear on my body and mind from traveling all over while working an intense demanding job.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a stand-up comedian known for breaking stereotypes and being unlike any other comic around. I’m very proud of the response I get from crowds, how they think what I’m doing is important and giving a voice to people who are often overlooked.

How do you think about luck?
It’s definitely had its part, I like to think we make out own luck by putting ourselves in the right places but luck is needed for it to pay off.
