Meet Pete Panos of UPRISE MMA in Venice Boulevard

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pete Panos.

Pete, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As the son of Greek immigrants I always heard tales of the Greek warriors and their accomplishments, it was no surprise to those who knew me that I would choose a career in the martial arts.

I started a gym called Way of the Warrior Training after many years of training and competing in martial arts. As our gym grew we expanded and our name changed to Uprise MMA. I like to think modern day warriors from kids to adults are forming in our present day gymnasium.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part I feel blessed that it has been a smooth road to where we are now. It started as a small gym with a lot of small classes and as we’ve grown we’ve tried to keep the same model of training.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about UPRISE MMA – what should we know?
We are an MMA gym, we train Muay Thai (kickboxing), Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Kali (stick/knife fighting), MMA, Strength and Conditioning classes, as well as a Kid’s program.

We are a community gym and we’ve established a place where students can learn Martial Arts but also develop friendships. We use the motto “You don’t have to be a fighter to train like one” This way everyone gets the ultimate experience.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Being involved with all aspects of the gym. Because we started small I’ve been able to mold the gym and the environment of the gym in the style I wanted.

Pricing:

  • $119 a month for 3 classes week
  • $179 unlimited training
  • Private lessons $80-$100 a session
