Meet Linda Woods of The Permanent Cosmetic Clinic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Linda Woods.

Linda, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I went to San Diego State University for 3 years as an Art Major. In my third year I unfortunately caught viral pneumonia! Being too naive at 20, I was so sick I didn’t drop my classes and received all withdrawal fails! I was so humiliated I ended there and decided to follow my brother and looked into San Diego City College that had a Cosmetology School… I was told with my GE classes finished I could receive a Liberal Arts Degree in Cosmetology as well as my license! Okay, that works!

I worked in an amazing Salon in EL Cajon doing hair and makeup for special occasions and weddings. We then decided to move to Northern California to buy some land. We have 2 acres in Loomis, a small rural town 25 minutes from where I opened my own salon! After 10 years of hair and makeup I got an invitation to go to San Francisco for a 2-day class for Permanent cosmetics. $2500 with 100 others and we only worked on fruit with a tattoo coil machine! Needless to say, if I wasn’t a dedicated Virgo makeup artist and very persistent I would have given up! NO anesthetics, no training! Okay, ice and oral gel, lol! I promised myself to attend 2 conventions a year, learning all the time. I opened The Permanent Cosmetic Clinic, etc in 1989! Growing in technique every year and anesthetics being developed I became better and better!

I started teaching others how to mark their eyebrow shape with a surgical marker so Not to error in their work. In 2010 when a broken skin anesthetic became available that was a vascular constrictor and able to deaden the skin I developed a technique to brush open the skin before working on it which allowed the skin to become blood free and painless! I studied this for 6 months to find how to predeaden the skin. How long each area takes to reach its maximum efficacy! We gave it an acronym. The L.I.N.D.A. technique. Light Intradermal Numbing During Application!

I tried to tell the World how amazing this was but actually no one really believed this! So, I wrote a step by step manual and made a L.I.N.D.A. Technique DVD that travels all over the world. My husband of 42 years is the Permanent Cosmetic Supply of 15 of selling the products I find the best, also all over the world 🌎. I have many doctor referrals and was subtracted by The University of Davis for 9 years to re color areola and nipples for cancer survivors with the only Non-Iron Oxide ink in the world. MRI safe and fade resistant! I no longer advertise. My clientele is 1/3 Refresher of colors, 3-22 years. 1/3 new clients and 1/3 repairs! I am happily booked out 4 weeks ahead. Being able to paint with my needle like a paint brush and inflict NO pain AND make woman wake up feeling pretty is what makes me who I am, as I somewhat live in my clients face and it’s a joy to do this! Dead serious! 🙋

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
On July 12th 1992, I had a terrible car crash on the L.A. Grapevine. Heavy rain came out of nowhere. My Aerostar van started to hydroplane and that’s all I remember. We flipped my car 10 times! Landed upside down and backwards! I was saved by not being seat belted in and went out the back as the driver’s side was crushed. I was unconscious, face down with the back of my head split open and bleeding. I was life flight helicoptered to Antelope Valley Hospital to be determined I had a severe concussion and later I realized I had amnesia as well. No taste or smell for 24 years!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about The Permanent Cosmetic Clinic – what should we know?
In my clinic, we do permanent eyebrows, eyeliner and lip reshaping with color! I also am a skin specialist, doing anti-aging treatments. My caring, like a nurse and my ability to see the empty spot is what makes my work look natural. My numbing technique allows me to make my work as perfect as a face can be. I have probably more nurses than any industry! My clinic is very clean but has a completely comfortable atmosphere. Since most permanent makeup is painful my clients are worried until I start working and they are amazed and relieved! I have about 8,000 clients! I’ve taught about 100 technicians.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Every seminar I went to gave me more ways to do my work better! Paula Pilmantis, the developer of one of the hand tools once gave The Best Eyebrow class at Premier Pigments convention! American Institute of Intradermal Cosmetics is the ink company and training center in Dallas, Texas that inspired me and gave me the best no metal ink in the world and let me teach my numbing technique to all attendees every year I could attend myself. My clients trusted me because they knew it wasn’t the money but how much I cared about my work on them!
